Read the name carefully. What PNU calls the Global Korea Scholarship (GKS) Support Program is a monthly living allowance of KRW 500,000 for 10 months, paid to self-financed international undergraduates who are already enrolled at PNU in years 2 to 4. It is not the Korean government's GKS degree scholarship that covers tuition, airfare and a settlement allowance. Do not budget as if the two are the same thing. PNU does staff GKS administration: the Foreign Student Support Team (외국인지원팀) has a dedicated GKS contact on +82-51-510-3353, hyejungyang@pusan.ac.kr. We could not confirm whether PNU is currently a GKS-designated university, or under which track (Embassy or University), because the government sites studyinkorea.go.kr and niied.go.kr were both unreachable when we checked on 3 August 2026. We are not implying either answer. Ask that team, or our education partners, before you plan around GKS.

  The guide lists the Busan International Exchange Foundation, the Korea-China Friendship Association, the JS International Scholarship Foundation, the Ethiopian Students Scholarship, the Chinese Consulate General, Suhyup Bank and the PKNU alumni association. Each has its own application route and PKNU does not publish the amounts.

We could not confirm whether PKNU is a GKS-designated institution, and we are not going to imply either answer. Here is exactly what we found. PKNU's own 2026 international admissions guide does not mention the Global Korea Scholarship, GKS, 정부초청장학금 or NIIED anywhere in the document. That is a real absence, not an oversight on our part. We could not check the government side either, because studyinkorea.go.kr blocks automated access. So the honest position is: unverified. Do not assume you can bring a GKS award to PKNU, and do not assume you cannot. Before you plan around it, check the NIIED designated-university list for your intake directly, or ask the Office of International Affairs on +82-51-629-6915 or admissions@pknu.ac.kr, or ask our education partners to confirm it for you.

• Global Korea Scholarship, GKS-U (Embassy Track)

GKS at KMOU is confirmed, and the track matters. KMOU participates in the Global Korea Scholarship, and for the 2026 GKS-U cycle the university's own notice is explicit: all applicants who wish to apply to Korea Maritime & Ocean University must apply only through the Embassy Track, following the restructuring of the former Regional University Track (R-GKS). Online application through the Korean diplomatic mission ran 15 to 30 September 2025. First-round screening is handled by the mission and no documents go to KMOU, except that applicants to 해사대학, the College of Maritime Sciences, must send a Seafarer's Medical Certificate directly to the university. KMOU had previously run a University Track guideline, posted 19 September 2024, so if you find that older document, note that the University Track is not the current route. KMOU also publishes a GKS 정부초청 외국인 장학생 규정 및 서식 안내, a rules and forms guide, dated 2 September 2025.

Dong-A runs GKS as a live programme. Its International Exchange Team publishes a dedicated officer, 김유림, whose listed duty is GKS(정부초청장학생) 프로그램 운영, operation of the Government-Invited Scholarship programme, reachable on +82-51-200-6449, dbfla2206@dau.ac.kr, and Dong-A's English site states its KGSP participation status. Dong-A's pages do not state which GKS track it hosts, so confirm that with the international office before you plan around it. What we could not confirm is whether Dong-A appears on the official 2027 GKS designated-university list, because studyinkorea.go.kr was unreachable to us when we checked on 3 August 2026. We are not implying either answer. Confirm current designation with that officer or with our education partners before you plan around GKS.

Kyungsung's own documents name the Global Korea Scholarship twice, so GKS applicants and holders are recognised here. The Fall 2026 international admission guideline exempts GKS applicants from the KRW 80,000 application fee (정부초청외국인장학생(GKS) 지원자의 경우 전형료 납부 면제), and the English scholarship page lists an admission fee waiver for GKS holders. What we could not confirm is whether Kyungsung is currently on NIIED's university-track designated list. We are not implying either answer. If you plan to come on GKS, confirm Kyungsung's designation status with the International Affairs Department or with our education partners before you build a plan around it.

The Global Korea Scholarship is usable at BUFS. BUFS participates in the GKS University Track and posts its own GKS calls on the Office of International Affairs notice board, for example 2025 Global Korea Scholarship [University Track] Application for Undergraduate Degrees and [GKS-G University Track] 2026 Global Korea Scholarship Application Guideline for Graduate Degrees. Separately, BUFS's own entrance scholarship table gives a GKS recipient a 100% application fee waiver and covers tuition above the GKS threshold. Apply through the University Track call posted on the BUFS OIA notice board rather than assuming a rolling process, each year's call carries its own deadline.

Yes, the Global Korea Scholarship is usable at Dongseo. Dongseo hosts GKS applications and posts the guidelines itself, including the 2026 GKS for Graduate Degrees University Track (posted 28 January 2026, deadline 25 March 2026 at 17:00 KST), the 2026 GKS-U Embassy Track, and the 2025 GKS for Undergraduate Degrees University Track. Dongseo's own news page states it was selected as an Excellent University for the 2024 GKS Program. One honest caveat: we confirmed this from Dongseo's own official postings, not from the government's designated-university list, which we could not access directly. The 2027 GKS cycle guidelines had not been posted on Dongseo's International Exchange Center board as of August 2026.

• Silla scholarships for international students

We could not confirm whether Silla University is a Global Korea Scholarship designated institution, or under which track. We are not implying either answer, we simply did not find an official page that says so. Silla's Office of International Affairs does staff a GKS coordinator, listed on this page under Admissions contacts, so that is the person to ask. Do not assume GKS is available at Silla until you have that in writing.

We are stating that plainly rather than implying either answer. No Youngsan page we reached mentions GKS or 정부초청장학금 at all, and studyinkorea.go.kr, the government portal that would settle it, was unreachable when we checked on 3 August 2026. Do not assume GKS is available here and do not assume it is not. Ask the Office of Global Affairs, or ask our education partners to check the current NIIED designated-university list for you, before you build any plan around GKS funding.

We could not confirm whether BNUE is a designated institution for the Korean government's Global Korea Scholarship (GKS). We are saying that plainly rather than implying either answer. The government portal studyinkorea.go.kr, which would settle it, is blocked to automated checks, so whether BNUE appears on any GKS designated-university list is unconfirmed. Separately, and this is the part that matters more: BNUE publishes no international-student scholarship of its own, no entry award and no TOPIK-based reduction, and its national scholarships run through KOSAF and are restricted to Korean nationals. Do not build a funding plan around scholarships here without written confirmation from the university.

We could not confirm whether CUP is a designated institution for the Korean government's Global Korea Scholarship (GKS). No CUP page and no reachable page on studyinkorea.go.kr states whether the university is GKS-designated, so we are saying that plainly rather than implying either answer, in either direction. Two things follow. None of the five awards above is a GKS award, they are CUP's own money. And none of them is a living stipend: four are percentage reductions on 수업료 and the fifth, the 생활지원장학금, pays dormitory fees. If your plan depends on GKS, confirm CUP's status with 국제교류처 on +82-51-510-0868, or with our education partners, before you commit to anything.

• Kosin scholarships for international students

We could not verify whether Dong-Eui is a designated institution for the Global Korea Scholarship (GKS), the Korean government's degree scholarship. The government sites we needed were unreachable when we checked on 3 August 2026 and we could not retrieve the annual list of GKS-designated universities. That is an open question, not a yes and not a no, and we are not implying either answer.
