    Why students choose Dongseo.

Strong in Design, Media, Film, IT & Business

Dongseo's identity is creative and international, design, media, film, software, global business, tourism and English-track programs sit at the centre. The Centum Campus in Haeundae is used for film and media facilities.

    A Mountainside Campus in Sasang

The main campus sits on a mountainside in Jurye-dong. Expect slopes, stairs and shuttle buses, Dongseo has real character, but it isn't a flat city-centre campus where everything starts at the subway exit.

Start at the International Exchange Center

Every international first step, ARC, dormitory, insurance, Student ID, course registration, Korean placement, runs through the International Exchange Center on the 4th floor of the New Millennium Building (뉴밀레니엄관 4층).

    The Reality Check

The main campus is uphill, plan for the shuttle.

Dongseo's main campus sits on a mountainside. The shuttle from Naengjeong Station Exit 5 (green bus #5 or #5-1) is part of normal campus life. Walking is possible, but not ideal with luggage, bad weather or a full schedule. For first arrival, taxi from Gimhae Airport directly to the main gate is the easiest move.

    Tuition, as currently published

Figures below are from Dongseo's official 2026 Fall international admission guideline PDF, in KRW, per semester. Undergraduate first-semester amounts are higher than later semesters because they include the one-off admission fee of KRW 113,000.

Application fee: KRW 60,000 for Bachelor's and Master's, KRW 90,000 for Doctoral. Undergraduate admission fee: KRW 113,000, charged once in the first semester. Graduate admission fee: KRW 600,000, charged once in the first semester.

    Program Per semester Notes
Undergraduate, Humanities & Social Sciences KRW 3,120,000 first semester, KRW 3,007,000 thereafter The KRW 113,000 difference is the one-off admission fee (입학금).
Undergraduate, Engineering, Arts and Media KRW 4,223,000 first semester, KRW 4,110,000 thereafter Dongseo's Costs & Aid page groups Engineering Sciences, Design, Visual Communication and Health Sciences in this higher bracket.
Undergraduate, Sports KRW 3,719,000 first semester, KRW 3,606,000 thereafter
Master's, Humanities & Social Sciences KRW 4,057,000 Plus a KRW 600,000 admission fee in the first semester.
Master's, Engineering & Natural Sciences KRW 5,428,000 Plus a KRW 600,000 admission fee in the first semester.
Master's, Arts KRW 5,505,000 Plus a KRW 600,000 admission fee in the first semester.
Doctoral, Humanities & Social Sciences KRW 4,281,000 Plus a KRW 600,000 admission fee in the first semester.
Doctoral, Engineering & Natural Sciences KRW 5,602,000 Plus a KRW 600,000 admission fee in the first semester.
Doctoral, Arts KRW 5,915,000 Plus a KRW 600,000 admission fee in the first semester.

Two cautions. First, the guideline publishes only three undergraduate brackets and has no separate line for medicine or nursing, so confirm which bracket your major falls into. Second, Dongseo's English Costs & Aid page quotes only USD figures ($2,520 + $420 = $2,940 and $3,450 + $420 = $3,870) and those do not reconcile with the KRW table at any plausible 2026 exchange rate. We treat the KRW guideline as authoritative and the USD page as stale. Separately, the Korean domestic tuition page at ipsi.dongseo.ac.kr is still headed 2021학년도 1학기 기준, so do not use those figures. All amounts are subject to change each academic year.

    Global Korea Scholarship

Yes, the Global Korea Scholarship is usable at Dongseo. Dongseo hosts GKS applications and posts the guidelines itself, including the 2026 GKS for Graduate Degrees University Track (posted 28 January 2026, deadline 25 March 2026 at 17:00 KST), the 2026 GKS-U Embassy Track, and the 2025 GKS for Undergraduate Degrees University Track. Dongseo's own news page states it was selected as an Excellent University for the 2024 GKS Program. One honest caveat: we confirmed this from Dongseo's own official postings, not from the government's designated-university list, which we could not access directly. The 2027 GKS cycle guidelines had not been posted on Dongseo's International Exchange Center board as of August 2026.

These figures come from the guideline PDF, which is the precise source. Dongseo's English Costs & Aid page describes the same scholarships only in vague terms (ranges of 100%, 50%, 40% or 30%, awarded on a case-by-case basis), so use the PDF. Entry scholarships cover the first semester, after which the merit rules apply. Thresholds are re-published every cycle and can change.

    Typical application windows

Dongseo publishes a standing deadline rule on its How to Apply page rather than fresh dates for every year: Spring Semester November 30, Fall Semester May 31. Exact 2027 dates were not published as of August 2026. The newest posting on the Admission Guideline board was dated 18 June 2026 and covered the 2026 Fall additional rounds.

The 2027 dates above are patterns drawn from Dongseo's standing deadline rule and from previous cycles. They are not confirmed dates. Dongseo had published nothing for the 2027학년도 on either its English or Korean board as of August 2026, and the Spring 2027 guideline is expected around late September or October 2026. Confirm every date directly with Dongseo's International Exchange Center or with our official education partners before you plan around it.

    Intake Window Basis
Spring 2027 (semester starts around 1 March 2027) Main round expected roughly 1 to 30 November 2026, with a deadline of 30 November 2026 at 18:00 KST Derived from Dongseo's own standing rule on the How to Apply page (Spring Semester: November 30). Not a confirmed 2027 date.
Fall 2027 (semester starts around 1 September 2027) Main round expected roughly 1 to 31 May 2027, with a deadline of 31 May 2027 at 18:00 KST Derived from Dongseo's own standing rule on the How to Apply page (Fall Semester: May 31), and consistent with the actual 2026 Fall round. Not a confirmed 2027 date.
Additional rounds, both semesters Announced separately after the main deadline Dongseo consistently runs 2nd and 3rd additional rounds. In the 2026 Spring cycle the 3rd additional round ran 21 January to 8 February 2026 by 18:00, with screening 9 to 11 February and results on 12 February. A pattern, not a promise, but it means late applicants are not automatically shut out.

Last confirmed cycle: 2026 Fall, fully published: application and documents 1 to 31 May 2026 by 18:00 KST, screening and interviews 1 to 12 June 2026, results 8 July 2026, tuition payment until late July 2026, semester begins 1 September 2026.

Application guidelines and forms are published on Dongseo's Admission Guideline board at https://uni.dongseo.ac.kr/eng/index.php?pCode=MN5000141, with the same guidelines mirrored on the Korean International Exchange Center board at https://uni.dongseo.ac.kr/iec/index.php?pCode=admission.

Dongseo combines a creative academic profile with a full set of student facilities, library, sports centre, swimming pool, fitness centre and sauna in Global Village. The Jurye-dong / Naengjeong area connects closely with Kyungnam College of Information & Technology, so there's a student atmosphere nearby.

    On-Campus Dorms

Dongseo has several dormitory buildings: Student Apartments (학생생활아파트), Global House West and East (글로벌하우스 서관 / 동관), International House I and II (국제생활관 I / II), and Global Village (글로벌빌리지). The 2026 dormitory page lists a Student Apartments 1-person room and various double-room options. Residents also pay a mandatory meal plan (의무식): KRW 400,000 for 80 meals across the semester, a unit price of KRW 5,000 per meal, one meal per day on weekdays only, with lunch or dinner selectable week by week. For Spring 2026 the plan ran 2026.3.3 to 2026.6.22.

Room Type Fee / Semester Meals
Student Apartments · Single KRW 700,000 Mandatory meal plan (의무식), KRW 400,000 for 80 meals
Double room (lower-fee buildings) KRW 660,000 Mandatory meal plan (의무식), KRW 400,000 for 80 meals
Double room (mid-tier building) KRW 800,000 Mandatory meal plan (의무식), KRW 400,000 for 80 meals
Double room (higher-tier building) KRW 850,000 Mandatory meal plan (의무식), KRW 400,000 for 80 meals

Building names tied to each price tier should be confirmed at booking, Student Apartments, Global House, International House I/II and Global Village each have their own fee table. The room fees above are from the 2026 dormitory fee page and were last checked in May 2026, they have not been re-verified since. The meal plan figures were re-checked in August 2026 against the dormitory 의무식 page, which carries its own warning that 의무식비와 일반 식비는 상이할 수 있음, the mandatory meal rate may differ from the regular walk-in rate. The Fall 2026 meal plan page had not been updated at the time of checking.

    Off-Campus Rent

Nearby rent figures are not something we have verified ourselves, so treat listings as a starting point. Search areas: Jurye-dong, Naengjeong Station area. Useful Korean search terms: 동서대 원룸, 동서대학교 원룸, 주례동 원룸, 냉정역 원룸, 동서대 자취방. Use Naver 부동산, 직방, 다방 and local real-estate offices.

Never sign sight-unseen. Use a vetted advisor to conduct a physical room check before sending any deposit.

    Campus Cafeterias & Cafés

Dongseo's official facilities page lists three campus cafeterias: the Global Village Student Cafeteria (글로벌빌리지 학생식당, 051-316-7621), the Kyungnyung Hall cafeteria on 1F (경영관 식당, 051-312-3033) and the faculty cafeteria on 15F of NM Hall (NM관 교직원식당, 051-320-1990). Only the Global Village Student Cafeteria publishes opening hours. Dongseo does not publish an a-la-carte price list anywhere, so the only official price figure below comes from the dormitory meal plan. Cafés on campus include Chinese Café, English Café, Japanese Café, Student Plaza cafés, Buzz Café and Caffe Lieto.

    Breakfast

    07:30–09:00 (Global Village Student Cafeteria)

조식은 신청한 학생만 이용가능, breakfast is only available to students who registered for it in advance. The dormitory meal plan does not cover breakfast, and no breakfast price is published on any official Dongseo page.

    Lunch

11:00–14:00 (facilities page) or 11:00–13:30 weekdays and 11:00–13:00 on public holidays (dormitory meal plan page)

The two official pages disagree. The campus facilities page lists 중식 11:00 ~ 14:00 for the Global Village Student Cafeteria, while the dormitory mandatory meal plan page for Spring 2026 lists 중식(평일) 11:00 ~ 13:30 and 중식(공휴일) 11:00 ~ 13:00. Confirm on arrival. The only published price is the dormitory meal plan rate of KRW 5,000 per meal.

    Dinner

17:30–19:30 (facilities page) or 17:00–18:30 weekdays and 17:00–18:00 on public holidays (dormitory meal plan page)

The same disagreement applies at dinner. The facilities page lists 석식 17:30 ~ 19:30, the dormitory meal plan page lists 석식(평일) 17:00 ~ 18:30 and 석식(공휴일) 17:00 ~ 18:00. Confirm on arrival. Dorm residents choose lunch or dinner week by week under the meal plan, at the same KRW 5,000 per meal rate.

    Libraries & Sports

    • Minseok Library (민석도서관), International College notice lists reading rooms 07:00–24:00 weekdays, 09:00–24:00 weekends/holidays
    • A confirmed 24-hour study room has not been verified
    • International College facilities also list a Student Lounge, confirm access for all international students

    Health & Medical

    Health Care Center I

Listed on the campus map as Health Care Center I. English-language medical support is not clearly confirmed, bring student ID, insurance and a translation app, and ask the International Exchange Center for support if Korean communication is difficult.
