    A Large Multi-Campus Private University

Dong-A is one of Busan's biggest private universities, with three campuses, Seunghak in Saha-gu, Bumin and Gudeok in Seo-gu, each tied to a different part of the city.

Access to Hadan, Nampo and Daesin

Seunghak connects with the Hadan-dong student area; Bumin sits next to Toseong, Nampo, Gwangbok-dong and Bosu-dong Book Street; Gudeok ties into Dong-A University Hospital and the Daesin-dong area.

Start at the International Office on Bumin

All international intake, ARC, insurance, dormitory, Korean level test, payment deadlines, runs through the International Office on Bumin Campus. Always confirm which campus your classes and dormitory are on.

    The Reality Check

Always specify the campus, Seunghak, Bumin or Gudeok.

Dong-A has three campuses, and your classes, dormitory, cafeteria, library and even subway station depend on which one. Do not say only 동아대학교 가 주세요 to a taxi, always add the campus name. The International Office on Bumin Campus is your first stop.

Taxi phrase, show to your driver

    동아대학교 부민캠퍼스 국제교류과로 가 주세요.

“Please take me to the International Office at Dong-A University Bumin Campus.”

    Programs

A large private university with a broad academic profile.

Dong-A is one of Busan's largest private universities. Its three campuses cover humanities, social sciences, business, law, media, design, engineering, sciences and medicine, with a major teaching hospital tied to the Gudeok-area Dong-A University Hospital.

    Language of Instruction

    Mostly Korean, with English-track options.

Most degree teaching runs in Korean. Dong-A does operate a separate undergraduate English track alongside the Korean track, with its own admission page and its own calendar, so confirm in writing which track your programme sits on before you apply. International students typically build TOPIK competence through the Dong-A Korean Language Institute, and that matters financially here: Dong-A's entry scholarships are banded directly on TOPIK level, and students who complete two or more semesters at the institute qualify for a better scholarship table. One caution on sources, the English-language Korean Language Institute course page on english.donga.ac.kr was still showing 2025 deadlines when we checked in August 2026, so confirm current terms with the International Exchange Office rather than that page.

Summer Session July – August Optional courses & language programs
Fall Semester Early September – Late December Second international intake

    Admissions

Start with the International Office on Bumin Campus.

International admission, visa, dormitory, insurance and Student ID questions route through the 대외국제처 국제교류과, the International Exchange Office, on Bumin Campus. Official pages list rooms BC-0116~3, while some admission documents refer to B03-0202, confirm the exact room in your latest admission email or notice before going. Dong-A does not publish one combined international admissions page, it splits by track, so start at the hub at https://global.donga.ac.kr/ and pick your branch from the 외국인 입학 menu: 한국어학당 Korean Language Institute, 학부 한국어트랙 undergraduate Korean track, 학부 영어트랙 undergraduate English track, or 대학원 graduate. The undergraduate Korean track page, which is the most complete, is https://global.donga.ac.kr/global/CMS/Contents/Contents.do?mCode=MN036. The undergraduate English track page is https://dongaoia.donga.ac.kr/dongaoia/CMS/Contents/Contents.do?mCode=MN115. Each intake's 모집요강 admission guideline PDFs are posted on the board at https://global.donga.ac.kr/global/CMS/Board/Board.do?mCode=MN038, and international scholarships live at https://global.donga.ac.kr/global/CMS/Contents/Contents.do?mCode=MN037. Two warnings. Search results often surface english.donga.ac.kr as Dong-A's international admissions page, but that page is the Korean Language Institute course page only and it was still listing 2025 deadlines in August 2026, so do not plan a degree application from it. Dong-A also serves the same site across many subdomain mirrors, so use the canonical global.donga.ac.kr address rather than whichever mirror a search engine hands you.

    Tuition, as currently published

Dong-A's 2026학년도 대학(학부) 등록금 책정표, the official undergraduate tuition table, priced per semester in KRW. The figure shown is what you pay from your second semester onward. Your first semester of enrolment is exactly KRW 158,200 higher in every band, because Dong-A folds an admission fee component into it.

The PDF states 최초 1학기 수업료에는 입학금 실비용분 158,200원이 포함, the first semester's tuition already includes an admission fee component of KRW 158,200. That is the entire reason the first-semester figure is exactly 158,200 higher than every later semester in each band. Dormitory and meals are billed separately, see the Housing tab.

    Program Per semester Notes
인문·사회 Humanities and Social Sciences, including Business KRW 3,318,500 First semester of enrolment: KRW 3,476,700.
미디어·커뮤니케이션 Media and Communication KRW 3,495,300 First semester of enrolment: KRW 3,653,500.
수학·정보수학 Mathematics and Information Mathematics KRW 3,622,700 First semester of enrolment: KRW 3,780,900.
자연과학·체육 Natural Sciences and Physical Education KRW 3,927,000 First semester of enrolment: KRW 4,085,200.
보건 Health Sciences, including Nursing KRW 4,080,000 First semester of enrolment: KRW 4,238,200.
공학 Engineering KRW 4,450,600 First semester of enrolment: KRW 4,608,800.
예술(무용) Arts, Dance KRW 4,532,100 First semester of enrolment: KRW 4,690,300.
의예 Pre-medical KRW 5,167,200 First semester of enrolment: KRW 5,325,400.
의학 Medicine KRW 5,788,400 First semester of enrolment: KRW 5,788,400. Dong-A's table shows the same figure in both columns for this band.
계약학과 Contract departments KRW 2,450,000 to 4,450,600 First semester of enrolment: KRW 2,608,200 to 4,608,800. The rate depends on the specific contract programme.

This is the 2026학년도 1학기 (Spring 2026) table, checked on 3 August 2026. No Fall 2026 table had been published at that point, so treat these as the last published rates and not as a quote for your intake. Dong-A is a private university and these rates apply to domestic and international undergraduates alike, so scholarships are what actually reduce an international student's bill, see the Scholarships section. One transparency note on our own checking: only the 인문·사회 row and the 158,200원 sentence were confirmed verbatim from the PDF text, so verify your own category label against the PDF before you budget on it.

    Scholarships

Dong-A funds international students through an automatic, TOPIK-banded tuition scheme rather than through case-by-case awards. Every benefit below is a percentage of 수업료, the tuition component. A worked example, using the engineering rate from the Tuition section: a TOPIK Level 4 entrant into engineering qualifies for Type B at 60% of KRW 4,608,800, which is KRW 2,765,280 off the first semester.

외국인 우수신입생 장학금, Outstanding New International Student Scholarship

    Type A 100%, Type B 60%, Type C 50%, Type D 30% of tuition

Type A requires TOPIK Level 5 or above, Type B Level 4 or above, Type C Level 3 or above. Type D covers other qualified applicants.

Automatic entry award, applied to the first semester only.

DAU 외국인 우수신입생 장학금, DAU Outstanding New International Student Scholarship

    Type A 100%, Type B 70%, Type C 60%, Type D 50% of tuition

For students who completed two or more semesters at the Dong-A Korean Language Institute with attendance of 80% or above. Type A requires TOPIK Level 5 or above, Type B Level 4 or above, Type C Level 3 or above, Type D covers other qualified applicants.

Better rates than the standard newcomer award at every band. The two newcomer awards look like alternatives rather than something you can stack, but Dong-A does not publish a stacking rule anywhere, so ask the International Exchange Office instead of assuming.

외국인 성적우수 장학금, Merit Scholarship for Continuing International Students

    100%, 70%, 40% or 20% of tuition

    Ranked on GPA. Top 10% receives 100%, top 40% receives 70%, top 60% receives 40%, top 80% receives 20%.

The two newcomer awards cover the entry semester only. From your second semester you move onto this GPA-ranked award, so your first-year grades decide what the rest of your degree costs.

    Global Korea Scholarship

Dong-A runs GKS as a live programme. Its International Exchange Team publishes a dedicated officer, 김유림, whose listed duty is GKS(정부초청장학생) 프로그램 운영, operation of the Government-Invited Scholarship programme, reachable on +82-51-200-6449, dbfla2206@dau.ac.kr, and Dong-A's English site states its KGSP participation status. Dong-A's pages do not state which GKS track it hosts, so confirm that with the international office before you plan around it. What we could not confirm is whether Dong-A appears on the official 2027 GKS designated-university list, because studyinkorea.go.kr was unreachable to us when we checked on 3 August 2026. We are not implying either answer. Confirm current designation with that officer or with our education partners before you plan around GKS.

Checked on 3 August 2026. Dong-A's scholarship page publishes percentages and conditions but no academic year and no won amounts, so treat these bands as the current published scheme rather than a guaranteed award for your intake.

Source: Dong-A International Exchange Office, scholarships for international students (KR), checked August 2026 · Dong-A international student support, scholarship overview (KR), checked August 2026 · Dong-A University international hub (canonical domain), checked August 2026.

    Typical application windows

No 2027학년도 international admission guideline existed as of 3 August 2026. Dong-A's pages were still showing only the 2026학년도 후기, the Fall 2026 intake. The windows below are read off Dong-A's own recurring published schedule and are a planning aid, nothing more. Read them by track, because Dong-A does not run a single calendar. The undergraduate Korean track, the undergraduate English track and the graduate track genuinely differ, so match the row to the track you are actually applying to.

These 2027 windows are patterns from previous cycles, not confirmed dates. Dong-A has published nothing for the 2027 academic year. Its own admission page carries the caveat that details may change each semester and that applicants must review the current guidelines before applying. Do not treat any single set of dates as Dong-A's deadline, because the Korean-track, English-track and graduate calendars genuinely differ from each other. Check the guidelines board again in November 2026 for real Spring 2027 dates, and confirm with the International Exchange Office or with our education partners before you book flights, resign from a job or pay anyone.

    Intake Window Basis
Spring 2027 (March start), undergraduate Korean track Guideline (모집요강) expected around November 2026, applications around December 2026, decisions early February 2027. Pattern from Dong-A's own recurring published schedule for this track. Not a confirmed date.
Fall 2027 (September start), undergraduate Korean track Guideline expected around May 2027, applications around June 2027, decisions early August 2027. Pattern from Dong-A's own recurring published schedule for this track. Not a confirmed date.
Spring 2027, undergraduate English track The published English-track Spring sequence runs on different rails: document evaluation and interview in mid-December, application period in early January, results in early January, visa documents in mid-January. Pattern from the English-track page's own published sequence. Not a confirmed date. Do not assume the Korean-track dates apply to you.
Spring 2027, graduate Guideline expected around October 2026, applications around November 2026, results early January 2027. Pattern from Dong-A's own recurring published graduate schedule. Not a confirmed date.
Fall 2027, graduate Guideline expected around April 2027, applications around May 2027, results early July 2027. Pattern from Dong-A's own recurring published graduate schedule. Not a confirmed date.

Last confirmed cycle: As of 3 August 2026 the most recent cycle Dong-A had actually published was 2026학년도 후기, the Fall 2026 intake. Nothing had appeared for any 2027 intake.

Dong-A posts each intake's 모집요강 admission guideline on the international admission guidelines board at https://global.donga.ac.kr/global/CMS/Board/Board.do?mCode=MN038. We have not verified which application system Dong-A files through, so confirm the filing route inside the guideline for your own intake.

    Student Life

Three campuses, three flavors of Busan student life.

Dong-A's student culture changes by campus. Seunghak feels like a classic uphill campus with the Hadan-dong streets just below. Bumin gives you central Busan, Toseong, Nampo, Gwangbok-dong, Bosu-dong Book Street, Gukje Market. Gudeok ties into the hospital and Daesin-dong area.

    Clubs & Communities

    • Academic circles tied to each college (business, law, engineering, design, media)
    • Sports, music and culture circles across all three campuses
    • Language exchange and international student groups
    • Global Zone activities for international student support

Club rosters change each semester, confirm current circles with the International Office on arrival.

    The Student District

Pedestrian crossing on the busy street next to Dong-A University

Seunghak students gravitate to the Hadan Station streets, practical for food, cafés, subway access, convenience stores and daily services, with a campus circulator handling the uphill walk.

Bumin students naturally drift into Nampo, Gwangbok-dong and Bosu-dong Book Street, markets, cafés, culture and central-Busan nightlife. Gudeok is quieter and built around Dong-A University Hospital.

    Support for international students

    Daily life still needs Korean

Cafeteria menus, housing signs, health pages, local bus stops and some administration are still Korean-heavy. Papago, Naver Map and KakaoMap cover most gaps.

    On-Campus Dorms

Dong-A University dormitory buildings on the wooded Seunghak hillside

Dong-A runs two separate housing systems. 한림생활관 Hanlim Residence is the umbrella dormitory organisation operating four halls across the three campus areas, and it publishes exact per-semester fees. 석당 글로벌하우스 Seokdang Global House is the international-focused hall in Jung-gu serving the Bumin campus area, with a maximum of 184 residents in double rooms. One thing to understand before you compare numbers: Dong-A prices its Hanlim halls per hall, not per room type. There is no published 1인실 / 2인실 / 4인실 breakdown on the official 생활관비 or 사생모집 pages. Meals at the Hanlim halls are not bundled into the fee. They are sold as separate semester voucher plans, A형 100 meals for KRW 550,000 and B형 70 meals for KRW 420,000, both covering 평일 조식·석식만, weekday breakfast and dinner only. There is no dining service on weekends or public holidays, 주말 및 공휴일 식당 미운영, so lunch is on you, usually from vending machines or off campus. Extra 10-meal top-ups are available.

Room Type Fee / Semester Meals
석당 글로벌하우스 Seokdang Global House, double room (2인1실), international focus, capacity 184 Approximately KRW 750,000 No meal plan included. Residents use the university cafeterias or the shared kitchen.
승학1관 Seunghak Hall 1, Seunghak campus, women only, capacity 1,050 KRW 939,000 Billed separately. A형 100 meals KRW 550,000 or B형 70 meals KRW 420,000, weekday breakfast and dinner only.
승학2관 Seunghak Hall 2, Seunghak campus, men only, capacity 588 KRW 1,070,000 Billed separately. A형 100 meals KRW 550,000 or B형 70 meals KRW 420,000, weekday breakfast and dinner only.
부민관 Bumin Hall, Bumin campus, co-ed, capacity 420 KRW 1,194,000 Billed separately. A형 100 meals KRW 550,000 or B형 70 meals KRW 420,000, weekday breakfast and dinner only.
구덕관 Gudeok Hall, Gudeok off-campus site, co-ed, capacity 156 KRW 999,000 Billed separately. A형 100 meals KRW 550,000 or B형 70 meals KRW 420,000, weekday breakfast and dinner only.

The four Hanlim figures are Dong-A's official 2026학년도 1학기 (Spring 2026) per-semester rates, published by the dormitory office and checked on 3 August 2026. Two official Dong-A sources disagree about Hanlim: the dormitory office publishes 939,000 KRW for 승학1관, while the International Exchange Office describes the same Seunghak accommodation to international students as 한 학기 90만원 내외, about 900,000 KRW per semester over four months, in a 2인1실. We publish the dormitory office figures because they are exact and hall-specific. The Global House number needs the same care. The International Exchange Office publishes it as 한 학기 75만원 내외(3개월 기준), approximately 750,000 KRW per semester on a three-month basis, with no academic year attached, and the only exact Global House figure Dong-A publishes anywhere is stale, a 756,000 KRW charge for the 2024.02.19 to 2024.05.18 period on an entry and exit schedule table that has not been updated past February 2025. Treat 750,000 as an approximation and confirm the live figure. What the Global House fee covers per room: 화장실 private bathroom, 1인용 침대 single bed, 책상 desk, 의자 chair, 서랍 drawers, 신발장 shoe rack, LAN케이블 LAN cable and 전화 telephone. Shared facilities include a laundry room, a lounge, a prayer room and a kitchen with cooking facilities. Bedding rental is extra at KRW 10,000 per set. The Global House rulebook links out to the university cafeteria menu system and does not bundle a meal plan. Confirm your hall, room type, meal plan, payment deadline and which campus it connects to with Seokdang Global House on 051-200-1496 before you pay anything.

    Off-Campus Rent

Rental area depends on your campus. Seunghak: Hadan-dong / Hadan Station area. Bumin: Bumin-dong / Toseong / Nampo / Bosu-dong side. Gudeok: Daesin-dong. Korean rent contracts include a deposit, monthly rent and maintenance fee, always compare all three before signing. Useful search tools: Naver 부동산, 직방, 다방 and local real-estate offices.

Never sign sight-unseen. Use a vetted advisor to conduct a physical room check before sending any deposit.

Campus Cafeterias (금주의 식단표, this week's menu)

Dong-A runs a live weekly cafeteria menu system, 금주의 식단표, which lists each restaurant by campus and building with its own hours and prices. Across the campuses meals run roughly KRW 5,000 to 7,500. One honest caveat about the times below: we read them on 3 August 2026, which falls inside the summer vacation, so they are vacation-period operation, not term time. Term-time hours are normally longer and more outlets open. The Engineering building restaurant had no menu registered at all when we looked. Re-check the menu page in early September for genuine Fall 2026 semester hours.

    Around the Three Campuses

View from the Dong-A campus down toward the surrounding Busan neighborhood

Seunghak's neighborhood is Hadan-dong, practical, walkable streets full of student food, cafés and convenience stores, with Hadan Station as the daily anchor. The campus itself is uphill, so the campus bus matters.

Bumin opens into central Busan: Toseong, Nampo, Gwangbok-dong, Bosu-dong Book Street and Gukje Market are all within easy reach, strong for cafés, markets, culture and city nightlife. Gudeok connects with Dong-A University Hospital and the Gudeok Sports Complex area in Daesin-dong.
