    At a Glance

What BNUE actually is, and what it is not.

    One Purpose: Elementary School Teachers

BNUE is a single-purpose national university that trains elementary school teachers. It has 13 departments: Ethics, Korean Language, Social Studies, Mathematics, Science, Physical, Music, Art, Practical Arts, Education, Elementary Special and Early Childhood, English, and Computer Education. There is no faculty of engineering, business or medicine, because that is not what this institution does.

No International Admission Track Is Published

As of August 2026 BNUE publishes no international undergraduate admission track, no international admissions page and no international student office. Its 2027학년도 수시모집요강 lists exactly six admission tracks and none of them is a foreign-national or overseas-Korean route. Read the Admissions tab before you spend money on documents.

Four Minutes from the Subway, on Flat Ground

The campus sits at 교대로 24 in Geoje-dong, Yeonje-gu. From Gyodae Station (교대역) on Line 1, Exit 3, the university's own directions page says it is 217 m straight ahead, about a 4 minute walk, with no shuttle or town bus needed. That makes it one of the easiest campuses in Busan to reach.

    The Reality Check

BNUE publishes no international undergraduate admission track.

BNUE is a national university of education that trains elementary school teachers, and as of August 2026 it publishes no international undergraduate admission track. There is no international admissions page, no dedicated international office, and no Korean language institute anywhere in the university's published structure. Its 2027학년도 수시모집요강 lists exactly six admission tracks, all of them 학생부종합 routes judged on a Korean high school record, and none is a foreign-national or overseas-Korean track. A foreign applicant would have to compete inside those standard Korean tracks. This page exists as an honest reference, not as an application funnel. If you want to study in Busan as an international student, start with a university that runs an international track.

University information on this page is reviewed with Korea Study Guide, an independent education advisory platform. Korea Study Guide can help you understand study routes, assess your profile and prepare for the application process.

The free profile review covers a look at your academic background, which study routes and universities may fit, and what documents you would need to prepare. It is guidance only: it does not submit applications for you and does not guarantee admission or a visa.

    Programs

A single-purpose teacher training college with 13 departments.

BNUE trains elementary school teachers and nothing else at undergraduate level. The 13 departments are Ethics, Korean Language, Social Studies, Mathematics, Science, Physical, Music, Art, Practical Arts, Education, Elementary Special and Early Childhood, English, and Computer Education. The English site at eng.bnue.ac.kr has exactly four top-level menus, About University, Undergraduate, Graduate School and International Exchanges, and none of them is an admissions page for international applicants. The International Exchanges pages, in both Korean and English, describe sister-university partnerships only.

    Academic Fields

At graduate level the 교육대학원 (Graduate School of Education) runs 27 to 28 majors across three divisions, 15 in 인문·사회계 (humanities and social sciences), 7 in 자연계 (natural sciences) and 6 in 예체능계 (arts and physical education). They include 한국어교육 (Korean language education), 다문화교육 (multicultural education), TESOL전공 and AI융합교육 (AI convergence education). Graduate admission runs through Jinhakapply. The graduate school lists expanding access to applicants without a teaching certificate as a development task. Whether foreign nationals may apply to the graduate school is not published anywhere we could reach.

    Language of Instruction

Korean only, and no Korean language institute on campus.

BNUE does not publish which programs run in English and which run in Korean, and no English-medium degree programme is advertised anywhere on its site. Assume Korean-medium study throughout. There is also no Korean language institute in the university's published structure. The full published list of 부설기관 is 교육연수원, 평생교육원, 창의인재교육원, 다문화교육원 and IB교육센터, and the 부속시설 are 학술정보관 (the library), 생활관 (the dormitory), 학생상담센터, 교육박물관, 입학본부, 미래교육원 and 인권센터. No Korean course for international university students appears in any of them. That is an absence in the published structure rather than an explicit statement that no course exists, but for a college of this size and mission the absence is meaningful.

    Academic Calendar

    Term Dates Notes
First semester (1학기) Begins in March BNUE's only annual intake starts in March. Both 수시 and 정시 admission feed this single start.
Second semester (2학기) Not yet verified: please confirm directly with the university BNUE runs a second semester, its dormitory notices for 2026학년도 2학기 were posted in July 2026, but no English academic calendar with dates is published.
Autumn intake Does not exist There is no September entry. BNUE publishes only 수시 and 정시, both feeding the March start. This is a verified answer, not a gap in our research.

    Admissions

There is no international admission route here. That is the finding.

BNUE publishes no official international admissions page and has no dedicated international office. Its 2027학년도 수시모집요강 lists exactly six admission tracks and none is a foreign-national or overseas-Korean route: 정원 내, 학생부종합 초등교직적성자전형 65 places, 학생부종합 지역인재전형 125 places, 학생부종합 국가보훈대상자전형 3 places; 정원 외, 학생부종합 농어촌학생전형 12 places, 학생부종합 장애인등대상자전형 12 places, 학생부종합 저소득층학생전형 5 places. All six are 학생부종합 tracks, meaning comprehensive evaluation of a Korean high school record. The guideline does contemplate applicants who graduated from an overseas high school, requiring 국외고등학교 졸업(예정)증명서 1부 and 국외고등학교 성적증명서 1부 with apostille or consular authentication, but only as document variants inside the ordinary tracks, not as a separate foreign-student route. No nationality restriction is stated, so a foreign applicant is not banned, they simply have to compete inside the standard Korean tracks. No language requirement of any kind, TOPIK or IELTS, appears in the guideline, which follows from there being no foreign-student track. The closest published functional owner of international matters is the 대외협력팀 (External Cooperation Team) inside 기획처 (Planning Division), whose duties are listed as 국·내외 교류 협력 및 언론대응, 홍보 업무, direct line 051-500-7139. No room, building or email address is published for it.

    Korean Language Pathway

No Korean language institute in the published structure

There is no Korean language institute at BNUE. The university's published 부설기관 are 교육연수원, 평생교육원, 창의인재교육원, 다문화교육원 and IB교육센터, and its 부속시설 are 학술정보관, 생활관, 학생상담센터, 교육박물관, 입학본부, 미래교육원 and 인권센터. None of them teaches Korean to international university students. The 다문화교육원 (Multicultural Education Center) does exist, on 051-500-7255, 051-500-7194 and 051-500-7538, but its published functions are mentor and mentee matching, scholarships, cultural experience programs and outreach lessons for multicultural and North Korean defector schoolchildren in the region. Its page says nothing about Korean courses for international university students. If you need a Korean language pathway in Busan, you will need to find it at another institution.

    Tuition, as currently published

BNUE publishes no standalone tuition fee table. The only official figure we could retrieve sits inside the admissions guideline PDF, and it is for the Korean-track undergraduate intake, because that is the only undergraduate intake there is. It is worth seeing anyway: this is a national university, which is why the figure is roughly half what Busan's private universities charge.

Dormitory and meals are billed separately, and neither amount is published. The dormitory meal plan is mandatory for residents. See the Housing tab.

    Program Per semester Notes
Undergraduate, elementary teacher education (all 13 departments), first semester KRW 1,658,000 등록확인예치금 (enrolment confirmation deposit) 100,000 KRW plus 등록금 차액 (balance of tuition) 1,558,000 KRW. There is only one program area at undergraduate level, so no per-faculty breakdown exists.
Graduate school (교육대학원) Information being verified Graduate tuition is not published on any accessible page. Ask the university on 051-500-7114.

The 1,658,000 KRW figure is stated in BNUE's 2027학년도 수시모집요강 on a 2026학년도 basis, and the guideline explicitly flags that it may change for 2027학년도. Treat it as the last published rate, not a quote. The payment schedule printed in the same guideline is 최초합격자 등록 (initial registration, the deposit) 21 to 23 December 2026, then 등록금 차액 납부 (balance of tuition) 10 to 12 February 2027. Two further honest notes: the 등록금/장학제도 link on the admissions site returns no content, and the 대학정보공시 page only links out to academyinfo.go.kr, which is blocked to us. Checked on 3 August 2026.

    Scholarships

BNUE publishes three scholarship categories and none of them is designated for international students. There is no entry scholarship for international students, no TOPIK-based reduction and no international-student scholarship of any kind on any published page. That follows from there being no international admission track. The university states that roughly 30 percent of total enrolment receives tuition-based aid annually, and the 학생지원처 officer handling scholarships is on 051-500-7132.

    교내장학 (internal scholarships)

    Information being verified

Tuition waivers and reductions, academic merit awards, hardship support, a disability-student support scholarship and a teaching-practicum scholarship. No amounts or thresholds are published.

None of these is designated for international students.

    교외장학 (external scholarships)

    Information being verified

Funded by the alumni association, foundations and corporate donors, for example the Gregorio Foundation and BNK Financial Group Hope-Sharing scholarships. No amounts are published.

None of these is designated for international students.

    국가장학 (national scholarships, via KOSAF)

    Information being verified

국가우수장학금 and 국가장학금 I유형 and II유형, for students within the 9th income decile, applied for at www.kosaf.go.kr.

These are by design restricted to Korean nationals. An international student cannot apply.

    Global Korea Scholarship

We could not confirm whether BNUE is a designated institution for the Korean government's Global Korea Scholarship (GKS). We are saying that plainly rather than implying either answer. The government portal studyinkorea.go.kr, which would settle it, is blocked to automated checks, so whether BNUE appears on any GKS designated-university list is unconfirmed. Separately, and this is the part that matters more: BNUE publishes no international-student scholarship of its own, no entry award and no TOPIK-based reduction, and its national scholarships run through KOSAF and are restricted to Korean nationals. Do not build a funding plan around scholarships here without written confirmation from the university.

Checked on 3 August 2026 against BNUE's own scholarship and student support pages. Scholarship terms in Korea are reset every cycle, so confirm any figure against the guideline for your own intake.

    Typical application windows

Everything below belongs to BNUE's Korean-track admission process. There is no foreign-student deadline because there is no foreign-student track. We publish the dates because the page is useful as a reference, not because there is an international route to apply through.

Read this before you plan anything. The 수시 dates above are printed in BNUE's own 2027학년도 guideline, but the results dates carry the university's own 예정 (provisional) marking and Korean admission calendars do move. The 정시 window for 2027 has not been published at all, and we have not inferred one from the previous cycle. Above all, none of these dates is an international application window, because BNUE publishes no international undergraduate admission track. Do not book flights, resign from a job, pay anyone or start apostilling documents against this page. Confirm every date and every requirement directly with BNUE's 입학본부 on 051-500-7561 to 7563, or with our education partners, first.

    Intake Window Basis
Spring 2027 (2027학년도 1학기, March 2027 start), 수시모집 early admission Applications 7 September 2026 from 10:00 to 11 September 2026 at 17:00, online only. Stage 1 results (1단계 합격자 발표) 20 November 2026 at 17:00, marked 예정, provisional, by BNUE. First-round successful applicants (최초합격자 발표) 18 December 2026 at 17:00, also marked 예정. Registration (최초합격자 등록) 21 to 23 December 2026. Printed in BNUE's own 2027학년도 수시모집요강, posted 28 May 2026. The results dates carry the university's own 예정 (provisional) label. This is the Korean 학생부종합 track, not an international one.
Spring 2027, 정시모집 regular admission Not yet verified: please confirm directly with the university Not yet published. As of 3 August 2026 the 정시 page still carried only the 2026학년도 정시모집요강. We have not inferred a date from the previous cycle.
Fall 2027 (September start) No such intake exists. BNUE publishes only 수시 and 정시, and both feed the single March intake. This is a real answer, not a gap in our research.

Last confirmed cycle: 2027학년도 수시모집요강, posted 28 May 2026, is the most recent guideline with real published dates. A 2028학년도 대학입학전형시행계획 was posted 29 April 2026. The 2027학년도 정시모집요강 had still not been posted as of 3 August 2026.

수시 applications are filed online only, through BNUE's admissions site at https://enter.bnue.ac.kr/. Graduate admission to the 교육대학원 runs through Jinhakapply. Neither is an international-track route.

    From Gimhae Airport

BNUE publishes no airport route, so we are not inventing one.

    1. 01BNUE publishes nothing about reaching campus from Gimhae International Airport: no limousine bus number, no journey time, no transfer chain and no taxi fare estimate. We are not going to infer one.
    2. 02What the university does publish is the last leg, and it is short: Busan Metro Line 1 to 교대역 (Gyodae Station), Exit 3.
    3. 03From Exit 3, go straight for 217 m, about a 4 minute walk. The official wording is 1호선 교대역에서 3번출구로 직진하여 도보로 217m이며 4분거리.
    4. 04No shuttle bus and no town bus is needed once you are at Gyodae Station.
    5. 05The university gives this route specifically for arrivals at Busan Station.

    By City Bus

City bus routes 189, 10, 77, 31, 506, 43, 129-1 and 100-1, plus Busanjin-gu village bus (마을버스) 17, all stop at 교대역. Get off there and walk the same 217 m from Exit 3.

    By Taxi

BNUE publishes no taxi fare and no taxi journey time from the airport, so we are not going to publish an estimate. If you take a taxi with luggage, show the driver the Korean address: 부산광역시 연제구 교대로 24, 부산교육대학교. Arriving by car, the university's own directions are: from Guseong IC or Deokcheon IC head toward Dongnae Rotary and then toward the Kookje Shinmun building, or from Seobusan IC via Sasang IC and Seomyeon Rotary to Gyodae Rotary.

    First Stop Checklist

    • 1Understand first that BNUE publishes no international admission track and no international office, so there is no international desk to report to
    • 2For admission questions, the 입학본부 (Admissions Office) is on 051-500-7561 to 7563 and 7565 to 7567, weekdays 09:00 to 17:00, and it handles the Korean-track admission process
    • 3For exchange and partnership questions, the 대외협력팀 in 기획처 is on 051-500-7139
    • 4For dormitory questions, call the 생활관 office on 051-500-7601 or 051-500-7604
    • 5Confirm the mandatory dormitory meal plan, residents must select one of six options, and the meal fee is billed separately from the operating fee
    • 6The 학생상담센터 (Student Counselling Center) is on 051-500-7198, weekdays 09:00 to 18:00, closed 12:00 to 13:00
    • 7There is no health clinic on campus, so find a local one before you need it

    Student Life

A small college with 40-plus clubs and one international-facing circle.

BNUE's official clubs page lists more than 40 registered clubs plus 2 provisional ones, grouped into 학술전시 (academic and exhibition), 공연 (performance), 체육 (sports), 종교 (religion) and 봉사 (service). Student organisations are administered by 학생지원처, with the officer for 총학생회 and 동아리 matters on 051-500-7131. The campus also has a 총학생회 (student council), a student newspaper (부산교대신문) and a broadcasting station.

    Clubs and Communities

    • 연 (Yeon), the one internationally focused club, described on the official page as a group where students interested in international exchange at BNUE gather to share information and plan exchange events
    • PRISM, astronomy
    • 묵연회, calligraphy
    • More than 40 registered clubs in total across 학술전시, 공연, 체육, 종교 and 봉사 categories, plus 2 provisional clubs
    • 총학생회 (student council), 부산교대신문 (student newspaper) and a campus broadcasting station

Two honest gaps. No buddy programme, mentor programme or international student association is published. The 다문화교육원 does run a 멘토-멘티 매칭 scheme, but its published target group is multicultural and North Korean defector schoolchildren in local schools, not international university students. And we could not verify how active 연 (Yeon) currently is from published material, so ask 학생지원처 on 051-500-7131 before counting on it.

    The campus and its streets

Officially verifiable, from BNUE's own pages: the campus is at 교대로 24, 거제동, Yeonje-gu. A post office sits on the 1st floor of 인문사회관. The dining hall is in the dormitory block. Eleven student lounges and cafés are spread across the campus, several open 09:00 to 22:00 and some from 06:00 to 23:00.

The rest of what follows is from namu.wiki, a Korean user-edited wiki, so treat it as community description rather than verified fact. It places BNUE in the heart of Yeonje-gu, close to both 교대역 and 종합운동장역, and makes the point that matters most in Busan: this is one of the city's rare flat campuses, so there is no hill climb. It puts 온천천 (Oncheoncheon stream) about 10 minutes away on foot and 사직야구장 (Sajik Baseball Stadium) about 15 minutes. It describes small restaurants, stationery shops, copy shops and cafés around the front gate, and 미남로 near the back gate lined with mostly independent restaurants rather than chains.

    Support on campus

    학생상담센터 (Student Counselling Center)

Weekdays 09:00 to 18:00, closed for lunch 12:00 to 13:00. Tel 051-500-7198, 051-500-7196, 051-500-7191, fax 051-500-7583. Services listed are 개인상담 (individual counselling), 심리검사 및 자가진단 (psychological testing and self-assessment), 집단 상담 프로그램 (group programs), 힐링테라피, 또래상담(솔리언) peer counselling and a safety program for trainee elementary teachers. No English-language support is mentioned.

    다문화교육원 (Multicultural Education Center)

051-500-7255, 051-500-7194, 051-500-7538. Its published work is mentor and mentee matching, scholarships, cultural experience programs and outreach lessons for multicultural and North Korean defector schoolchildren in the region. It is not a service for international university students, and it is not a Korean language institute.

    인권센터 and 장애학생지원센터

A Human Rights Center at hrc.bnue.ac.kr and a Disability Student Support Center are both published parts of the university structure.

    Everything here runs in Korean

There is no international office, no English admissions page and no published English-language support at any service. Notices, menus, dormitory paperwork and counselling are Korean-first. Plan for that honestly before you consider this campus.

    On-Campus Dorms

The dormitory is called 생활관, established in 1982, and it is three buildings, 생활관 1, 2 and 3. The campus map labels the block that holds the dining hall BTL기숙사. 생활관 1 is male, 43 rooms and 83 residents, corridor type plus guest rooms, described as 1실 2인(1인용 침대), two people per room with single beds. 생활관 2 is male, 108 rooms and 108 residents, apartment-type units of 3 rooms, single occupancy with individual beds. 생활관 3 is female, 198 rooms and 396 residents, apartment type on floors 2 to 15, also 1실 2인(1인용 침대). The published total is 349 rooms and 587 residents. Facilities include guest rooms for student use, fitness areas and common spaces. A meal plan is mandatory: the dormitory FAQ states that residents must select one of six meal options, ranging from 2 to 3 meals a day across 5 to 7 days a week, and the meal fee is billed separately from the operating fee.

Room Type Fee / Semester Meals
생활관 1, male, 2 people per room (1실 2인, single beds), corridor type, 43 rooms for 83 residents Information being verified Mandatory meal plan. Residents choose one of six options, from 2 to 3 meals a day across 5 to 7 days a week. The meal fee is billed separately from the operating fee.
생활관 2, male, single occupancy in apartment-type units of 3 rooms, 108 rooms for 108 residents Information being verified Mandatory meal plan, same six options.
생활관 3, female, 2 people per room (1실 2인, single beds), apartment type on floors 2 to 15, 198 rooms for 396 residents Information being verified Mandatory meal plan, same six options.

No dormitory fee in KRW is published on any page we could read. The current notices, 2026학년도 2학기 생활관비 납부 안내 posted 30 July 2026 and 2026학년도 2학기 생활관 입실 모집 공고 posted 8 July 2026, exist on the dormitory board but the post pages are rendered by JavaScript and would not open, so we have no figure to give you. Ask the dormitory office directly. Note also that BNUE's own figures disagree on capacity: the main university site states 396 residents across the three buildings while the dormitory site states 587 residents across 349 rooms. Confirm on arrival. Payment is by virtual-account bank transfer, by credit card (Busan BC or NH Nonghyup), or in two instalments. Published eligibility covers currently enrolled students including freshmen, and excludes students with disciplinary records, prior dormitory expulsion, contagious illness, or those on leave of absence. Selection weighs 시외거주자 (students living outside the city), 가정환경 (family circumstances), 국가유공자 (national merit recipients) and 성적우수자 (academic performance). Whether international students may apply is not addressed anywhere, the FAQ has no international-student entry. Off-Campus Rent

We have not verified current rent figures ourselves, so treat listings as a starting point rather than a quote. We found no citable rent figure for 거제동 or the streets around 교대역, so we are not publishing a range. Korean search terms that work: 부산교대 원룸, 교대역 원룸, 거제동 원룸, 연제구 원룸. Use Naver 부동산, 직방 and 다방, plus the estate agents around 교대역. Korean contracts carry a separate deposit and a monthly maintenance fee on top of the rent, so compare all three numbers before you sign anything.

Never sign sight-unseen. Use a vetted advisor to conduct a physical room check before sending any deposit.

Campus dining hall (식당), BTL기숙사 1층

The campus dining hall is in the dormitory block. The campus map lists 식당 at BTL기숙사 1층, the first floor of the BTL dormitory building. A monthly menu is posted on the official 식단표 page, with breakfast, lunch and dinner for each day, and it was carrying the August 2026 menu when we checked. One honest gap: meal prices are not published. The cafeteria is operated as part of the dormitory meal plan, where residents buy one of six mandatory plans, and no per-meal walk-in price in KRW appears on any official page. The dining facility has no separate trade name either. Ask the dormitory office on 051-500-7601 for the current rate.

    Libraries & Sports

    • 학술정보관 (Academic Information Center) is the campus library. Contacts: director 051-500-7150, 정보개발팀장 051-500-7153, 정보운영팀장 051-500-7156 and 051-500-7157.
    • Published services include lending and returns, in-house reading, reading rooms and stack rooms, reference service, inter-library loan (상호대차) and user education.
    • Student spaces inside 학술정보관: Communication Space, Learning Space for silent study, i-Commons with PCs, and a Book Café on the 5th floor. Published operating hours range from 06:00 to 23:00 for some spaces down to 09:00 to 18:00 for others, and some require a student ID card.
    • Sports: 제1체육관 and 제2체육관 (Gymnasiums 1 and 2) with sports facilities and dance studios, plus 대운동장, a large athletic field in the centre of campus. The dormitory buildings also contain fitness areas.
    • 학생회관 1 and 2 house student organisations, a theatre and club rooms.
    • The library's own site, library.bnue.ac.kr, is blocked by robots.txt, so we could not read precise opening hours or borrowing entitlements. Nothing is published about what an international or exchange student specifically may use, and the library page lists an 외부이용자 출입 안내 및 통제 duty, which implies external-user access is controlled without stating the rules.

    Health & Medical

There is no campus health clinic

No 보건실, 의무실, 양호실 or health clinic appears anywhere in BNUE's published information: not in the 부속시설 list, not in the campus map facility list, and not on the 편의시설 안내 page. The campus map does mark AED (automated external defibrillator) locations across 24 buildings. We report this as a verified absence in the published information rather than proof of absence on the ground, so if an on-campus first-aid point matters to you, confirm it by phone on 051-500-7114 before you arrive.

    학생상담센터 (Student Counselling Center)

The one published student health-adjacent service. Weekdays 09:00 to 18:00, closed 12:00 to 13:00. Tel 051-500-7198, 051-500-7196, 051-500-7191, fax 051-500-7583, (47503) 부산광역시 연제구 교대로 24(거제동). Services: 개인상담, 심리검사 및 자가진단, 집단 상담 프로그램, 힐링테라피, 또래상담(솔리언) peer counselling and a safety program for trainee elementary teachers. No English-language support is mentioned on any official page, for this centre or any other service. The question is simply not addressed.

For urgent situations anywhere in Korea, call 119. Take your ID, insurance details and a translation app to any medical visit.

    Around 교대역 and Geoje-dong

What BNUE itself publishes about the immediate area is short and useful. The campus is at 교대로 24 in 거제동, Yeonje-gu, four minutes on foot from Gyodae Station Exit 3. There is a post office on the 1st floor of 인문사회관, the dining hall is in the dormitory block, and 11 student lounges and cafés are spread across the campus, several open 09:00 to 22:00 and some from 06:00 to 23:00.

No official source describes the neighbourhood itself, so what follows is from namu.wiki, a Korean user-edited wiki, and is community description rather than verified fact. It places the campus in the heart of Yeonje-gu, close to both 교대역 and 종합운동장역, and calls it one of Busan's rare flat campuses, which in this city is a genuine advantage. It puts 온천천 (Oncheoncheon stream) about 10 minutes away on foot and 사직야구장 (Sajik Baseball Stadium) about 15 minutes. Around the front gate it describes small restaurants, stationery shops, copy shops and cafés, and near the back gate, 미남로 lined with restaurants, mostly independent places rather than chains.

The same source is blunt about the campus itself: it is genuinely small and compact even by teachers' college standards, with the large athletic field sitting in the middle, which creates awkward foot traffic and can make students late when consecutive classes are on opposite sides. It describes 거제동 as central Busan, valuable land with commercial development potential. Treat all of that as a starting point and check it yourself when you visit.
