    Why students choose Kyungsung.

    One Compact Urban Campus

Kyungsung functions as a single compact urban campus in Daeyeon-dong, direct subway access, no hill climbs, no campus shuttles needed. The Kyungsung-PKNU student district starts right outside the gate.

    English-Track Global College

Kyungsung runs English-track undergraduate majors through Global College, Global Business Administration, Global Hospitality Management, Global Korean Studies, Global Mechanical Design Engineering and Global IT Engineering.

Start at Building 30 | The Genesis

Every international first step routes through the International Affairs Department in Geonhak Memorial Hall / The Genesis (Building 30), Room 201 or 201-2, even if older English pages still mention Building 28.

    The Reality Check

Old pages still say Building 28, go to Building 30.

Some older English pages list International Student Affairs in Building 28, Room 201. Current International Affairs and admission pages point to Geonhak Memorial Hall / The Genesis, Building 30, Room 201 or 201-2. Start at Building 30 and ask International Affairs to confirm. Kyungsung uses building numbers a lot, learn them early.

    Reviewed with Korea Study Guide

University information on this page is reviewed with Korea Study Guide, an independent education advisory platform. Korea Study Guide can help you understand study routes, assess your profile and prepare for the application process.

The free profile review covers a look at your academic background, which study routes and universities may fit, and what documents you would need to prepare. It is guidance only: it does not submit applications for you and does not guarantee admission or a visa.

    Programs

An urban private university with English-track and creative strengths.

Kyungsung is a private university with a strong international-student infrastructure, English-track programs through Global College, Korean language education and a visible arts, media and cultural-technology profile. Business, hospitality, Korean studies, IT and engineering are all well represented.

    Academic Fields

Kyungsung also runs a School of Global Open Majors, useful if you are not yet sure which major to choose or need stronger Korean before moving into a specific major. In the first year, students combine Korean language education with major exploration; from the second year they move into a chosen major. Two things worth knowing before you shortlist a subject. Kyungsung has no medical school. Nursing and Pharmacy do exist as departments and appear in the university-wide tuition table, but they are absent from the department list in the international special-admission guideline, so they are not generally open on the foreign-student track.

English-track majors list IELTS 5.5 or TOEFL iBT 71 as the minimum English-proficiency requirement (with exceptions for English native-speaking countries). Korean-track students admitted below TOPIK level 3 are expected to complete around 300 hours of Korean training within one year. Confirm the live admission guide before applying.

    Admissions

Start with International Affairs in Building 30.

All international admission, visa, dormitory, insurance, Student ID, Korean placement and scholarship questions route through the International Affairs Department in Geonhak Memorial Hall (Building 30), Room 201 or 201-2 on the Daeyeon campus. Kyungsung does not run a single international students landing page, it splits the information by track. For undergraduate international admission the two official English pages are the Korean Track page at https://kscms.ks.ac.kr/eng/CMS/Contents/Contents.do?mCode=MN023 and the English Track page at https://kscms.ks.ac.kr/eng/CMS/Contents/Contents.do?mCode=MN047. The intake guidelines (모집요강) are posted by the Office of International Affairs at https://kscms.ks.ac.kr/ia/CMS/Contents/Contents.do?mCode=MN056 in Korean and mCode=MN057 in English, with Chinese at mCode=MN085 and Vietnamese at mCode=MN087. Applications themselves are not filed on the Kyungsung site, both the Korean and English pages send applicants to https://www.studyinkorea.go.kr. Kyungsung's Global College also runs its own notice site at https://ksgc.kr/bbs/board.php?bo_table=notice, where semester-specific guideline posts appear. That site is operated by Kyungsung's Global College but sits on a separate domain, so it is not a ks.ac.kr page.

    Tuition, as currently published

These are the per-semester figures printed in the fee table inside Kyungsung's Fall 2026 international special-admission guideline, which is what an international applicant is actually billed. Amounts are in KRW, per semester.

Add KRW 37,000 per semester for the mandatory international student insurance. Transfer students pay KRW 100,000 less per semester. The application fee is KRW 80,000, waived for GKS applicants and for applicants coming through a Kyungsung overseas language centre. Dormitory and meal tickets are billed separately, see the Housing tab.

    Program Per semester Notes
Humanities and Social Sciences (인문사회), most departments KRW 3,396,000
Media and Communication (미디어커뮤니케이션) KRW 3,446,000
Business and Economics (상경) KRW 3,396,000
Big Data and Applied Statistics (빅데이터응용통계) KRW 3,941,000
Engineering (공과), most departments KRW 4,436,000
Arts, Music (예술 음악) KRW 4,621,000
Arts: Design, Film, Fine Arts (디자인, 영화, 미술) KRW 4,456,000
Life and Health Sciences, Pharmaceutical Engineering (생명보건 제약공학) KRW 4,611,000
    Food Science (식품) KRW 4,436,000
Global College, Global Studies and open majors KRW 3,396,000
Global College, Global Engineering KRW 4,436,000

Two official Kyungsung fee tables exist and they do not agree. We publish the international guideline table above, because that is the one an international applicant is billed against. Kyungsung's admissions site publishes a separate university-wide table headed 2026학년도 1학기 등록금 현황(신입생 기준), which runs roughly KRW 126,000 lower per band: Humanities and Social Sciences 3,270,000, Media and Communication and Advertising and PR 3,320,000, Social Welfare 3,285,000, Business and Economics 3,270,000, Hotel, Tourism and Foodservice Management 3,320,000, Big Data and Applied Statistics 3,815,000, AI Media 4,330,000, AI Mathematics 3,815,000, Engineering 4,310,000, Arts 4,330,000, Music 4,495,000, Nursing 4,460,000, Pharmacy 5,650,000. That table notes the amounts cover tuition only (등록금 항목은 수업료임). Confirm the exact figure for your own department in the guideline for your own intake. Kyungsung has no medical school, and Nursing and Pharmacy do not appear in the international guideline's department list, so they are not generally open through the foreign-student special admission track. Checked on 3 August 2026.

    Scholarships

Kyungsung runs an automatic, score-banded tuition reduction for entering international students, then switches to GPA-based renewal from the second semester. There is no separate application form for the entry awards, they are calculated from your admission documents. Every figure below is a tuition reduction, not a living allowance.

    Special Scholarship (특대장학생), Korean Track

    100% tuition waiver, first semester

    TOPIK Level 5 or above.

Also awarded on partner-university recommendation, on referral from a Kyungsung overseas language centre, or on endorsement by the Office of International Programs.

    Entry reduction, Korean Track

    50% tuition reduction, first semester

    TOPIK Level 4 or above.

    Entry reduction, Korean Track

    40% tuition reduction, first semester

TOPIK Level 3, or Kyungsung's own KSU-TOPIK Level 4 or above.

    Entry reduction, Korean Track

    30% tuition reduction, first semester

Meets the admission language standard but sits below TOPIK Level 3.

    Entry reduction, English Track

    50% tuition reduction, first semester

TOEFL iBT 104 or above, or IELTS 7.5 or above.

    Entry reduction, English Track

    40% tuition reduction, first semester

TOEFL iBT 95 or above, or IELTS 7.0 or above.

    Entry reduction, English Track

    30% tuition reduction, first semester

TOEFL iBT 71 or above, or IELTS 5.5 or above, or a national of an English-speaking country.

Kyungsung states the English bands differently in two places. The English scholarship page lists 30% at IELTS 5.5 or TOEFL iBT 80 and above, with a 20% band at iBT 71. The Fall 2026 guideline lists 30% at iBT 71 or IELTS 5.5 and adds the 40% band above. We publish the guideline. Treat the guideline PDF for your own intake as the authoritative one.

    Entry reduction, English Track

    10% tuition reduction, first semester

Qualified at interview without a formal English test score.

Merit scholarship, from the second semester

    20% to 100% tuition reduction

Awarded on GPA and cohort ranking. The top 1.5% of the cohort receives 90%, and the scale runs down to 20% for the top 30 to 100 percent band. The Fall 2026 guideline table carries a 100% award at GPA 3.5 and above.

The 20% band is disbursed after the semester is completed, not deducted from your bill up front.

    Student leadership scholarship

    10% to 30% tuition reduction

International student council and student union representatives, and national representatives.

    Mileage Scholarship (마일리지 장학금)

    Information being verified

Kyungsung describes this as open to every student who completes the prerequisites, but does not publish the award amount. Ask International Affairs what the prerequisites and the amount currently are.

Language score acquisition and improvement scholarship

    Information being verified

Posted periodically by Global College for students who obtain or raise a language score. The amount is set per posting, so watch the Global College notice board.

    Global Korea Scholarship

Kyungsung's own documents name the Global Korea Scholarship twice, so GKS applicants and holders are recognised here. The Fall 2026 international admission guideline exempts GKS applicants from the KRW 80,000 application fee (정부초청외국인장학생(GKS) 지원자의 경우 전형료 납부 면제), and the English scholarship page lists an admission fee waiver for GKS holders. What we could not confirm is whether Kyungsung is currently on NIIED's university-track designated list. We are not implying either answer. If you plan to come on GKS, confirm Kyungsung's designation status with the International Affairs Department or with our education partners before you build a plan around it.

Checked on 3 August 2026. Kyungsung resets bands, thresholds and amounts each cycle, so read the guideline for your own intake rather than relying on these figures. The Korean-language 국제처 scholarship page was empty when we checked, showing only 자료 준비중입니다, so use the English scholarship page and the guideline PDF instead.

    Typical application windows

Kyungsung has published nothing for the 2027 academic year. As of 3 August 2026 the most recent guideline on the site is 2026학년도 후기 (Fall 2026), and that cycle has already closed. The windows below are extrapolated from two of Kyungsung's own published cycles, so you know roughly when to start gathering documents.

These 2027 windows are patterns from previous cycles, not confirmed dates. Kyungsung has not published them. Do not book flights, resign from a job, or pay anyone against these windows. Confirm the live dates with Kyungsung's International Affairs Department or with our education partners before you commit to anything. One more thing worth knowing: the 국제처 notice board and the English notice board both block automated checking, so they have to be looked at by hand. Those are the two places to re-check from September 2026 onward.

    Intake Window Basis
Spring 2027 (March 2027 start) Round 1 expected roughly mid-September to late October 2026, with a short Round 2 around late November to early December 2026. Extrapolated from Kyungsung's published Spring 2026 cycle. Round 1 ran 12 September to 27 October 2025, interviews 12 to 19 November, results 26 November. Round 2 ran 28 November to 3 December 2025, interviews 12 to 22 December, results 24 December. Semester started 2 March 2026. Not a confirmed date.
Fall 2027 (September 2027 start) Applications expected roughly late March to late April 2027, interviews mid-May, results late May. Extrapolated from Kyungsung's published Fall 2026 cycle, which ran 31 March to 27 April 2026. Not a confirmed date.

Last confirmed cycle: Fall 2026 (2026학년도 후기), now closed. Applications 31 March to 27 April 2026, interviews 12 to 19 May, results 21 May, semester start 1 September 2026. Use this as your calibration for how the 2027 cycle is likely to run.

Applications are not filed on the Kyungsung site. Both the Korean and the English pages send applicants to https://www.studyinkorea.go.kr. The deadline is 17:00 KST on the final day and the application fee is KRW 80,000, waived for GKS applicants and for applicants coming through a Kyungsung overseas language centre. The Spring 2027 guideline should appear at https://kscms.ks.ac.kr/ia/CMS/Contents/Contents.do?mCode=MN056 in Korean and mCode=MN057 in English, most likely in September 2026.

    Student Life

Lively, urban, and right inside the Kyungsung-PKNU district.

Kyungsung's biggest lifestyle advantage is its location. The campus is directly inside the Kyungsung-PKNU student area, one of Busan's strongest student neighborhoods, so daily life starts the moment you walk out the gate.

    Clubs & Communities

    • Active business, hospitality, IT/engineering and Korean-studies academic circles
    • Media, film, design and performing-arts circles tied to Kyungsung's creative profile

    • Sports circles using the on-campus swimming pool, gym and studio classes

Club rosters change each semester, confirm current circles with International Affairs on arrival.

    The Student District

The area around 경성대·부경대역 is one of Busan's strongest student neighborhoods, with student restaurants, cafés, snack shops, bars, small eateries, convenience stores, stationery shops, pharmacies, daily-supply stores and student housing all minutes from campus.

From Kyungsung, Line 2 gives easy access to Seomyeon, Gwangan / Gwangalli, Centum City and the Haeundae direction. For larger shopping, go by subway to Seomyeon, Centum or Haeundae.

    On-Campus Dorms

Kyungsung's main dormitory is the Nuri International Dormitory (누리생활관). It is split into Dorm I and Dorm II. Kyungsung's published room table for Dorm II accounts for about 620 residents, and no capacity figure for Dorm I is published, so we are not giving one. Most rooms are 2-person; single rooms are very limited (priority for students with disabilities); 3-person rooms for foreign students are available in Dorm I. Rooms include shared bathroom, mini-fridge, telephone, LAN, bed, desk, chair, bookshelf, drawer, shoe closet and Wi-Fi. Bedding is not included.

Room Type Fee / Semester Meals
제1누리생활관 Dorm 1, single room (1인실), 6 rooms KRW 1,350,000 Meals not included, meal tickets bought separately. Break rate KRW 735,000.

제2누리생활관 Dorm 2, single room (1인실), 4 rooms KRW 1,410,000 Meals not included, meal tickets bought separately. Break rate KRW 765,000.
제2누리생활관 Dorm 2, double (2인실), 308 rooms KRW 940,000 Meals not included, meal tickets bought separately. Break rate KRW 530,000.
원룸형 생활관 One-room type hall, triple (3인실) KRW 700,000 Meals not included, meal tickets bought separately. Break rate KRW 410,000.

Meals are not included in the room fee. Meal tickets (식권) are bought separately and a minimum purchase is mandatory, 90 tickets per semester and 40 per break. Semester bundles: 90 tickets KRW 369,000 (KRW 4,100 a meal), 140 tickets KRW 546,000 (KRW 3,900 a meal), 180 tickets KRW 666,000 (KRW 3,700 a meal). Break bundles: 40 tickets KRW 164,000, 80 tickets KRW 296,000. Tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable, and they are valid for weekday meals and weekend lunch only. One caveat on the fees above: Kyungsung's dormitory fee page carries no academic-year label, no semester label and no effective date, so treat these as the rates published on the university dormitory site in August 2026 rather than as confirmed 2026-2027 rates. Confirm the current rate before you pay anything. Dormitory office: 051-663-6511 to 6513, jmpark@ks.ac.kr, https://kscms.ks.ac.kr/nuri/Main.do.

    Off-Campus Rent

Common search areas: Daeyeon-dong, Kyungsung-PKNU station area, Namcheon direction and the PKNU side. Working estimates for simple student one-rooms: deposit KRW 3,000,000 – 5,000,000, monthly rent KRW 350,000 – 550,000, maintenance KRW 50,000 – 100,000. Newer officetel-style rooms can be higher. Useful search tools: Naver 부동산, 직방, 다방 and local real-estate offices.

Never sign sight-unseen. Use a vetted advisor to conduct a physical room check before sending any deposit.

    Nuri Dormitory Student Cafeteria

Only the dormitory cafeteria publishes hours officially. It sits on the 1st floor of 제1누리생활관 (Nuri Dormitory 1) and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner during term. You have to show your dormitory card at the serving counter, and food may not be taken out. Per-meal cost works out at KRW 3,700 to 4,100 depending on which meal-ticket bundle you buy, the 180-ticket bundle is KRW 3,700 a meal, 140 tickets is KRW 3,900, 90 tickets is KRW 4,100. Expect Korean-first menus. Two honest caveats. Kyungsung does not publish hours or prices for a general campus or student-union cafeteria (학생식당) on any reachable official page, and the campus map page lists 32 buildings without naming a single dining facility, so the times below are dormitory times, not campus-wide times. The hours page also carries no semester label, so check on arrival. The daily dormitory menu boards are posted at https://cms2.ks.ac.kr/nuri/sub.do?mCode=MN0045 for the student menu and mCode=MN0046 for the staff menu.
