    Why students choose Kosin.

A Christian University with Health & Welfare Strengths

Kosin is a private Christian university, theology, mission, Christian education, church music, counseling, social welfare, nursing, medicine-related fields, health and welfare, and Korean language training.

    A Quieter Yeongdo Campus

The Yeongdo Campus (영도캠퍼스) sits in Dongsam-dong, on Yeongdo, quieter and more campus-based than PNU or the Kyungsung-PKNU strip. Better for students who want a focused environment over big nightlife.

Start at the Office of International Affairs

Every international first step, ARC, visa/stay, insurance, dormitory, Student ID, Korean placement, coordinator routing, runs through the Office of International Affairs (국제교류팀 / 대외협력처 국제교류팀).

    The Reality Check

Kosin is on Yeongdo, and the campus isn't the same place as the hospital.

There is no subway station directly at Kosin University. Plan the final part by shuttle, bus or taxi from Busan Station, Nampo, Jungang or Daeyeon. Important: do not confuse Kosin University Yeongdo Campus (고신대학교 영도캠퍼스) with Kosin University Gospel Hospital (고신대학교 복음병원). They share a name but are different destinations.

“Please take me to the main gate of Kosin University Yeongdo Campus.”

    Programs

A Christian private university with health, welfare and mission strengths.

Kosin's Christian identity is part of the university's character, especially relevant for theology, mission, Christian education, church music, counseling, social welfare and health-related work. The university also has clear strengths in nursing and medicine-related fields.

    Academic Fields

Some undergraduate courses are listed in English in external information, but do not assume regular degree study is mostly English-taught, confirm the language of instruction by department before applying.

    Language of Instruction

Korean-first campus with a dedicated Korean Language Training Course.

Kosin runs Korean language training through the Global Language Education Institute / Korean Language Program / Korean Language Training Course. We could not verify the intake months or the course length, so we are not publishing either. TOPIK information appears in Kosin notices but the exact prep format is not clearly confirmed; KIIP is not confirmed. The official Language Program page is https://global.kosin.ac.kr/ia/bbs/board.php?bo_table=contents&wr_id=4.

    Admissions

Start at the Office of International Affairs (국제교류팀).

Kosin's OIA splits work between a Dean, an Office Manager and staff for student management, recruitment, overseas programs and institutional agreements. Ask which coordinator handles your route, undergraduate, graduate, Korean language, dormitory, visa/stay, insurance or student support. The official international-student site is the Office of International Affairs (국제교류팀) at https://global.kosin.ac.kr/ia/. The undergraduate international-admissions page sits at http://global.kosin.ac.kr/ia/bbs/board.php?bo_table=contents&wr_id=18 under the menu label Undergraduate Admissions, the required-documents library at https://global.kosin.ac.kr/ia/bbs/board.php?bo_table=docu, and the office's own contact page at https://global.kosin.ac.kr/ia/bbs/board.php?bo_table=contents&wr_id=2. One practical warning. When we checked on 3 August 2026 the OIA site became unreachable repeatedly after the first few page loads, and it is served over both http and https with the https host behaving unreliably. If a link fails, try the other protocol, try again later, or phone the office directly.

    Tuition, as currently published

Kosin does not publish a per-semester tuition table for international students on any page we were able to reach in August 2026. We are not going to guess at a number you would then budget against. Use the Office of International Affairs contacts on the Admissions tab to get the current figure in writing for your specific program before you commit to anything.

Dormitory and meals are billed separately, and the dormitory fee includes a compulsory meal fee. See the Housing tab.

    Program Per semester Notes
Undergraduate degree programs Information being verified No international undergraduate tuition table was verifiable on the pages we could load. Ask the Office of International Affairs for the rate for your department.
Graduate programs, master's and doctorate Information being verified Not published on the pages we could reach. Ask the Office of International Affairs.
Korean Language Training Course Information being verified Course fees are not published on the OIA Language Program page. Contact the Korean Language Program coordinator, msjin@kosin.ac.kr.

Checked on 3 August 2026. The Kosin OIA site was intermittently unreachable during that check, so it is possible a fee table exists on a page we could not load. Treat the absence of figures here as our failure to verify rather than as evidence that Kosin publishes nothing. Ask the office directly, or ask our education partners to confirm the live rate for your program.

    Scholarships

We could not verify a single Kosin scholarship for international students against an official Kosin page in August 2026. Rather than repeat scholarship names and percentages we cannot source, we are leaving this honest and pointing you at the office that actually decides.

    Kosin scholarships for international students

    Information being verified

Kosin's own scholarship terms for international students were not verifiable on the pages we could reach in August 2026. Ask the Office of International Affairs on +82-51-990-2239 or jsbae@kosin.ac.kr.

The OIA site was repeatedly unreachable when we checked, so a scholarship page may well exist that we simply could not load.

    Global Korea Scholarship

Our August 2026 research did not establish whether Kosin University is a designated institution for the Korean government's Global Korea Scholarship (GKS). We are not implying either answer. Do not assume GKS is available at Kosin, and do not assume it is not. Ask the Office of International Affairs directly, or ask our education partners to check the current NIIED designated-university list for you, before you build any plan around GKS funding.

Checked on 3 August 2026. Scholarship names, thresholds and amounts are reset every cycle in Korea, so even a figure you find elsewhere online needs confirming against the guideline for your own intake.

    Typical application windows

Kosin has published no 2027 application dates that we were able to verify. The windows below are built only from the intake months already documented on this profile. They exist so you know roughly when to start collecting documents, and for nothing else.

These are patterns from previously published intake months, not confirmed dates, and Kosin has not published a 2027 cycle that we were able to verify. Nothing on this page is an application deadline. Do not book flights, resign from a job, pay a deposit or start apostilling documents against these windows. Confirm the live dates with the Kosin Office of International Affairs or with our education partners first.

    Intake Window Basis
Undergraduate, March start Documents need preparing in the months before the March intake. Kosin has published no confirmed 2027 application dates that we could verify. Built from the March undergraduate intake month documented on this profile. Not a confirmed date.
Graduate, March and September start Two entry points a year, March and September. No confirmed 2027 application window was verified. Built from the March and September graduate entry months documented on this profile. Not a confirmed date.

We could not verify whether Kosin accepts applications through its own site, by email through a coordinator, or through a national portal such as JINHAK APPLY. The admissions and required-document pages sit on the OIA site at http://global.kosin.ac.kr/ia/bbs/board.php?bo_table=contents&wr_id=18 and https://global.kosin.ac.kr/ia/bbs/board.php?bo_table=docu. Confirm the filing route with the office before you start preparing documents.

Useful Yeongdo-area bus routes may include 8, 30, 70, 71, 508, always confirm in Naver Map or KakaoMap. The Daeyeon Station shuttle area is near the Daeyeon-dong Busan Bank / Busan Cultural Center side, about 100 m from Exit 5. Kosin's semester shuttle notices flag a 3–5 minute variation for traffic.

    By Taxi

Taxi is the easiest first-arrival option with luggage. If the driver assumes the hospital, say: 고신대학교 복음병원 말고, 고신대학교 영도캠퍼스로 가 주세요. Korean address: 부산광역시 영도구 와치로 194 고신대학교 영도캠퍼스.

    First Stop Checklist

    • 1Go to OIA / 국제교류팀
    • 2Confirm ARC / residence card and visa / stay management
    • 3Check insurance enrolment
    • 4Arrange Student ID
    • 5Confirm dormitory assignment, room type and meal rules
    • 6Ask about Korean language support
    • 7Learn the shuttle route from Busan Station or Daeyeon Station

Not Kosin Gospel Hospital, please go to Kosin Yeongdo Campus.

    Student Life

    Quieter, focused, Yeongdo-based.

Kosin feels more campus-based and local than PNU, Kyungsung-PKNU or Seomyeon. The Christian identity, smaller scale and Yeongdo setting suit students who want a more focused environment.

    Campus Facilities & Communities

    • University Library and Information & Communication Center (internet, document work)
    • Gym in Shalom Dormitory 1F, table tennis court, futsal court, basketball court, playground, fitness center
    • Cafés: Cafe Dream (Admin Building 1F), Cafe Ettoi (Hope Building 1F)
    • Lounges: Hanbit Lounge (Admin 1F), Rodem Lounge (Library 1F), Podowon Lounge (Wisdom B1)
    • CU convenience store in Library Building 1F
    • University church, language practice room, open-air auditorium, cultural facilities (Hansangdong Hall, Coram Deo Art Hall, Son Yang-won Memorial Hall, Kim Hyun-tae Memorial Hall)

Confirmed 24-hour study room access has not been verified, check on arrival. ATMs on 1F of Seomgim Hall, Jinri Hall and Hope Hall.

    The Student District

The main student area is Dongsam-dong / Yeongdo. This isn't the same kind of student district as PNU, Kyungsung-PKNU or Seomyeon, Kosin feels more campus-based and local.

For bigger shopping, cafés, transport and more city life, use bus or taxi toward Nampo, Busan Station or central Yeongdo. Yeongdo also has scenic coastal cafés, but ask current students whether those are actual daily hangouts.

    Daily life still needs Korean

Transport, bus stops, cafeteria menus, dormitory notices, local housing and medical visits often run in Korean. Papago, Naver Map and KakaoMap cover most everyday gaps.

    On-Campus Dorms

Kosin has three main dormitories: Happy Dormitory / Rodem Hall (행복기숙사 로뎀관), Shalom Dormitory (샬롬관) and Immanuel Dormitory (임마누엘기숙사). Happy Dormitory holds 744 students (152 four-person rooms, 66 two-person rooms, 4 one-person accessible rooms). Shalom Dormitory has parking, office, conference hall, fitness centre, lounge, laundry and guest house. Immanuel Dormitory (recently remodeled) is operated for international students with 36 four-person rooms plus shared facilities. A standard single-room option for international students is not clearly confirmed.

Room Type Fee / Semester Meals
Happy Dormitory · 4-person room Information being verified Residence fee includes a compulsory meal fee (식비). Current amount not published.
Happy Dormitory · 2-person room Information being verified Residence fee includes a compulsory meal fee (식비). Current amount not published.
Immanuel Dormitory · 4-person (international) Information being verified Residence fee includes a compulsory meal fee (식비). Current amount not published.
Happy Dormitory · 1-person accessible Information being verified Residence fee includes a compulsory meal fee (식비). Current amount not published.

Meals are not optional here. The dormitory bundles a compulsory meal fee (식비) into the residence fee, and Kosin does not currently publish the amount. The only figure we could trace is 324,000 KRW of 식비 for the second semester of 2021, which is several years out of date and must not be used for budgeting. Current 2026 dormitory room fees are not clearly published in English either. Study in Korea lists roughly USD 125 per month for a four-person room, which also appears to be an older figure. Confirm dormitory assignment, room type, room fee, meal fee, move-in date, vacation stay and international-student rules with the dorm office before arrival. Happy Dormitory Rodem Hall: 051-400-2410, happydorm@kosin.ac.kr, https://kosin.happydorm.or.kr.

    Off-Campus Rent

We looked specifically for a Yeongdo-gu one-room (원룸) monthly rent figure in August 2026 and found no citable official statistic or platform aggregate, so we are not publishing a range. Treat any listing you find as a starting point rather than a quote. Search areas: Dongsam-dong, Yeongdo, Wachi-ro area, campus entrance, and bus-access routes toward Nampo and Busan Station. Useful Korean search terms: 고신대 원룸, 고신대학교 원룸, 동삼동 원룸, 영도 원룸, 와치로 원룸, 고신대 자취방. Use Naver 부동산, 직방, 다방 and local real-estate offices.

Never sign sight-unseen. Use a vetted advisor to conduct a physical room check before sending any deposit.

Source: Kosin Happy Dormitory (행복기숙사) official site, cafeteria and residence information, checked August 2026.

Students' Cafeteria (학생식당), Happy Dormitory B1

The main student cafeteria is the Students' Cafeteria (학생식당) in the basement of Happy Dormitory. Meals are 자율배식 (self-serve). Two official Kosin pages disagree on when weekday lunch ends. The Office of International Affairs campus-facilities page lists weekday lunch as 11:00 to 13:30, while the Happy Dormitory cafeteria page lists 11:00 to 14:00. We publish the dormitory page's hours because that page belongs to the operator of this cafeteria and it also publishes the weekend and vacation hours the OIA page leaves out. Confirm on arrival. During semester a ramen corner runs 14:00 to 14:25 and again 15:30 to 16:50. No per-meal price is published on any official Kosin page we could reach, so ask the cafeteria or the International Office for the current rate rather than budgeting from a figure found elsewhere online.

    Lunch (점심식사)

    11:00 – 14:00

    The OIA campus-facilities page lists 11:00 – 13:30 instead. Weekends 12:00 – 13:00. Vacation 12:00 – 13:00.

    Dinner (저녁식사)

    17:00 – 19:00

    Weekends 17:00 – 18:00. Vacation 17:30 – 18:30.

    • Library and Information Center (Study in Korea), public facility
    • Information and Communication Center, internet and document writing

    Health & Medical

    Campus Health Clinic

Listed as a facility for student health promotion and disease prevention. We have not confirmed the exact on-campus location, ask the International Office on arrival. English-speaking help is not clearly confirmed, ask OIA for support if Korean communication is difficult. The major connected medical institution is Kosin University Gospel Hospital (고신대학교복음병원, 051-990-6114), but remember it is a different destination from the Yeongdo Campus.

For urgent situations anywhere in Korea, call 119. Bring student ID, residence card (if available), insurance details and a translation app for medical visits.

    Around Kosin

For basic daily needs, start with the campus cafeteria, campus cafés, the CU convenience store (Library Building 1F), campus lounges and Dongsam-dong local streets.

For bigger shopping, cafés, transport and city life, use bus or taxi toward Nampo, Busan Station or central Yeongdo. Yeongdo's coastal cafés are scenic but not automatically a daily student hangout, ask current students before planning your routine there.
