    At a Glance

    Why students look at Youngsan.

Tourism, Hospitality, Culinary and Creative Fields

The Busan (Haeundae) campus carries the College of Tourism, Culture and Arts: hotel and tourism, food service management, culinary arts, airline and tourism management, beauty arts, fashion design, design, acting, broadcasting and photography, webtoon, game and virtual reality. Engineering, nursing, law and police programs sit at the Yangsan campus instead, which is a different city.

One Office of Global Affairs for Everything

Admissions, insurance, visa questions and dormitory placement all run through the Office of Global Affairs (대외협력단) in Building M9308 on the Haeundae campus, 051-540-7022, hi_young@ysu.ac.kr. The Korean Language Education Center is in Building D, second floor.

A Haeundae Address, an Inland Campus

The campus is in Bansong-dong, an inland valley neighbourhood in Haeundae-gu. It is not near the beach, and the university's own English directions describe a 15 to 20 minute walk up to the front gate from the subway station.

The Yangsan campus, which is the university's main campus and is not in Busan, is at 288 Junam-ro, Yangsan-si, Gyeongsangnam-do 50510 · 경상남도 양산시 주남로 288(주남동), tel 055-380-9114. One warning: the English footer at ysu.ac.kr/eng prints the two postcodes the wrong way round, showing 48015 next to Yangsan and 50510 next to Busan. The Korean pages have it right, 48015 is Haeundae and 50510 is Yangsan.

    The Reality Check

Haeundae on paper, an inland hillside in practice.

The address says Haeundae-gu, which is the district people associate with the beach, but the campus sits inland in Bansong-dong. From Youngsan Univ. Station (영산대역) exit 2, the university's own English directions say it is about a 15 to 20 minute walk up to the front gate. The word up is theirs. The easier arrival is a bus to 반송우체국 (Bansong Post Office) and then about five minutes on foot toward 필봉길, the road the campus is on. Second thing to plan for: dormitory meals are not served at weekends or on public holidays (주말 및 공휴일 급식 : 미운영), and the subsidised 1,000-won breakfast runs only at the Yangsan campus. Weekend and early-morning eating is off campus by default.

    Programs

Two campuses, and only the Haeundae one is in Busan.

Youngsan University runs a Busan campus in Haeundae-gu, called the Busan Campus in English and the Haeundae campus in Korean, and a main campus in Yangsan, Gyeongsangnam-do. The two carry different subjects, so check which campus your program is on before you plan anything else. The Busan campus is built around the College of Tourism, Culture and Arts, the College of Multidisciplinary Studies toward Future and the College of Wellness Health. Nursing, physical therapy, dental hygiene, taekwondo, police administration, law, mechanical and automotive engineering, hydrogen system engineering, electrical and electronic engineering, architectural engineering, computer engineering and drone spatial information engineering are Yangsan programs, not Busan ones. The Korean site brands the university as 와이즈유(영산대학교), a dual WISE University and Youngsan University branding adopted in 2018, while every official English page uses Youngsan University only.

    Academic Fields

Those are the Haeundae campus undergraduate departments. At graduate level the Haeundae campus lists Graduate School departments of Real Estates, Hotel and Tourism Administration and Beauty Arts, plus the Graduate Schools of Legal Affairs and Business Administration, Real Estate, Tourism, and Beauty Arts. Published eligibility reads: high school graduates are eligible only for the Korean Language Program or the regular undergraduate courses, and only university graduates are eligible for the graduate courses. There is no published list of majors closed to international students.

    Language of Instruction

Korean-first. No English-taught degree track is published.

Youngsan does not publish the language of instruction program by program, and we found no official statement of any English-taught degree track anywhere on the site. What the university does state, on the Korean Language Education Center course-overview page, is that degree entry needs TOPIK level 3 or above (TOPIK 3급이상 취득자 입학가능), with one exception: the School of Global Studies (글로벌학부) admits at TOPIK 2, and a TOPIK 2 entrant must complete at least 250 hours of Korean training during the first year (TOPIK 2급 소지자의 경우 입학한 후 1년간 250시간 이상의 한국어연수 필수). That implies Korean-medium study. Two Yangsan programs are labelled (Chinese students). No IELTS admission requirement is published anywhere, IELTS appears only in the scholarship table. Note also that the TOPIK 3 rule sits on the language-centre page rather than in a formal 모집요강 admission guideline, and carries no year stamp. There is no published language requirement at all for graduate admission. Ask the Office of Global Affairs to confirm both the language of instruction and the language requirement for your specific department in writing.

The official international admissions page is http://www.ysu.ac.kr/eng/CMS/Contents/Contents.do?mCode=MN039, listed in the sitemap under Admissions as International Application and Recruitment & Admission Guide. The dedicated international-office site is http://global.ysu.ac.kr. The office is at (48015) 부산 해운대구 반송순환로 142 대외협력단, on the Haeundae campus, phone 051-540-7022, fax 051-540-7026. Insurance and related questions go to 051-540-7028 instead. The only room published is Office of Global Affairs, Building M9308 (M동 9308), and no separate room number is published for the admissions counter itself. Be ready for the office name to change shape as you move between pages: it appears as 대외협력단, 국제협력단, 국제협력팀, 교류협력처 유학생지원센터 국제지원팀, 유학생유치단 국제유치팀 and Office of Global Affairs, with sub-units named Office of International Recruitment and Office of International Support. They are the same operation.

    Tuition, as currently published

Youngsan does not publish a tuition table for international students on any page we were able to reach in August 2026. That is worth knowing in itself, because the university's scholarship page is written entirely in percentage discounts of tuition, and it never states the tuition those percentages apply to. Get the per-semester figure for your specific department in writing from the Office of Global Affairs before you commit to anything.

Dormitory and food are billed separately from tuition. The dormitory fee is quoted per semester and the two official pages disagree on the amount, see the Housing tab. Meals are not bundled into the dormitory fee, the optional meal plan runs 4,200 to 5,000 KRW per meal on weekdays only.

    Scholarships

Youngsan's Office of Global Affairs publishes a clear scholarship table for international students, built around language test scores at entry and grade point average afterwards. Everything below is quoted from that page. One caveat runs through all of it: the awards are expressed as percentage discounts of tuition, and the university does not publish the tuition figure they apply to, so a 50 percent award is not a number you can budget against yet.

    Entry scholarship, TOPIK

50% discount of tuition at TOPIK level 4 and above, 30% at TOPIK level 3 and above

Freshman entry, based on your TOPIK level at admission.

    Entry scholarship, IELTS

    30% of tuition at IELTS 5.5, 40% at IELTS 6.0, 50% at IELTS 6.5

Freshman entry, based on your IELTS score at admission.

IELTS appears only in the scholarship table. No IELTS requirement is published for admission itself.

    Entry scholarship, cum laude graduates

    50% discount of tuition

    Applicants who graduated cum laude.

    Continuing student scholarship

20% of tuition at GPA 2.5 and above, 30% at 3.0 and above, 40% at 3.5 and above, 50% at 4.0 and above

Grade point average in the previous semester.

    Overseas programme scholarship

1,200,000 KRW for the Philippines, 2,400,000 KRW for Canada, 2,400,000 KRW for the USA

GPA 3.0 or above in the previous semester, plus TOEIC 500 or above for the Philippines and TOEIC 750 or above for the USA and Canada.

    Contact Ms. Han Arhreum, reummy0819@ysu.ac.kr.

Korean Language Education Center TOPIK award

TOPIK exam fee refunded at level 2 and above, 200,000 KRW at level 3 and above

Language centre students on the Haeundae campus who pass TOPIK. Undergraduate international students get the exam fee refunded on passing level 3.

The exam fee is paid once per level and there are no duplicate awards for the same level.

Foreign student scholarship (외국인 장학금), over-quota admits

    Information being verified

The university's Korean-language undergraduate scholarship regulations list this only as 모집 시 따로 정함(정원 외 입학자에 한함), meaning it is set separately at each recruitment round and applies only to over-quota admits. No amount or threshold is published in advance.

    Global Korea Scholarship

We could not confirm whether Youngsan University is a designated institution for the Korean government's Global Korea Scholarship (GKS). We are stating that plainly rather than implying either answer. No Youngsan page we reached mentions GKS or 정부초청장학금 at all, and studyinkorea.go.kr, the government portal that would settle it, was unreachable when we checked on 3 August 2026. Do not assume GKS is available here and do not assume it is not. Ask the Office of Global Affairs, or ask our education partners to check the current NIIED designated-university list for you, before you build any plan around GKS funding.

Checked on 3 August 2026. The scholarship page carries no academic-year stamp, so these thresholds may be older than the cycle you are applying to. Scholarship terms in Korea are reset every intake. Confirm the numbers against the guideline for your own intake before counting on them.

    Typical application windows

Youngsan has published no 2027 application dates that we were able to verify. The windows below are built from the Korean Language Education Center's published 2025 calendar and nothing else. They exist so you know roughly when to start collecting documents, and for nothing else.

These are patterns from previously published terms, not confirmed dates. Youngsan has published no 2027 cycle we could verify, and the language centre attaches its own caveat to even the 2025 dates, 실제 상황에 따라 일정 약간 변동 될 수 있음, the schedule may shift slightly depending on circumstances. Nothing on this page is an application deadline. Do not book flights, resign from a job, pay a deposit or start apostilling documents against these windows. Confirm the live dates with the Youngsan Office of Global Affairs or with our education partners first.

    By Bus and School Bus

The shorter walk is by city bus. Routes 115-1, 129, 189, 189-1 and 73 stop at 반송우체국 (Bansong Post Office), and the Korean language-centre directions page also lists 129-1 and 183. From that stop the university says 반송우체국 하차 필봉길(영산대학교) 방향으로 5분 정도 소요됩니다, about five minutes on foot toward 필봉길. The university also runs a Haeundae school bus. The 영산대역 방면 route leaves from the bus stop next to 반송도서관 (Bansong Library) with departures at 08:40 and 08:45, published for the first semester of 2026 as running Monday to Thursday from 3 March 2026 to 22 June 2026. Other school bus routes serve Line 1 stations 노포역, 범어사역, 남산동역 and 두실역 plus 덕천, Monday to Thursday only with no Friday service, and the 노포동 route takes about 40 minutes. School bus questions go to the Student Welfare Team, 051-540-7503.

    By Taxi

Youngsan publishes no taxi fare and no taxi journey time for the airport route, so we are not going to invent an estimate. If you take a taxi with luggage, show the driver the Korean address: 부산광역시 해운대구 반송순환로 142, 영산대학교 해운대캠퍼스. The published subway fare for the airport route is 1,500 to 2,000 won depending on distance. Coming from Busan Station instead, take Line 1 bound for Nopo-dong, transfer at Dongnae Station to Line 4, get off at 영산대역 and use exit 2, the same 15 to 20 minute walk.

    First Stop Checklist

    Student Life

A valley campus in a residential neighbourhood.

The Haeundae campus is compact and residential rather than surrounded by a student strip. Most of what you will use daily sits inside the campus or in Bansong-dong around it, and the bigger city is a bus or subway ride away.

    Campus facilities you can use

    • 연봉도서관 (Yeonbong Library), Haeundae campus, 051-540-7050
    • Group study rooms, bookable at the circulation desk, minimum group of 3 at Yeonbong Library
    • Web databases, e-books and e-learning content through the library portal https://lib.ysu.ac.kr
    • 잔디운동장, the grass sports field, free for internal users
    • 체력단련실 (fitness room) in E동 2층 and H동, with shoulder press, arm curl, leg curl, leg extension, twist machines and treadmills
    • A second 체력단련실 inside the dormitory buildings, plus 정독실 (study room), 세탁실 (laundry), 인터넷카페 and a 매점 shop

Two practical catches. The fitness room is open to students and staff but requires an application form five days in advance with departmental approval, contact the Student Welfare Team on 051-540-7504, and general facility booking runs through https://www.ysu.ac.kr/kor/CMS/OrganRentalMgr/intro.do?mCode=MN161 up to one week ahead. And no opening hours are published for either the library or the fitness room, the library portal served an empty page when we checked in August 2026. Nothing on the official site restricts these facilities by nationality, but nothing explicitly confirms international-student access either, so ask on arrival. The futsal pitch (풋살경기장, 09:00 to 21:00) is at the Yangsan campus, not Haeundae.

    The neighbourhood around campus

Officially, the campus is at 반송순환로 142 in Bansong-dong. The nearest metro stop, 영산대역 on Line 4, is about a 15 to 20 minute walk up to the front gate by the university's own account. Buses 115-1, 129, 129-1, 183, 189, 189-1 and 73 stop at 반송우체국, about five minutes on foot from the campus. There is a public library, 반송도서관, next to the school bus stop.

The rest of what follows is from namu.wiki, a Korean user-edited wiki, so treat it as background rather than fact. It describes the campus as stretching along a mountain valley (대학교가 산골짜기를 따라 길게 늘어져 있다), which makes moving between buildings awkward, while noting that the Haeundae campus is still better placed than Yangsan because it is inside Busan proper. It splits Bansong-dong into 아랫반송 (Bansong 1-dong, older low-rise housing, where 영산대역 is) and 윗반송 (Bansong 2-dong, around 5,500 apartment units and better amenities), describes the area as inland with no sea view (바다가 보이지 않는 내륙 지역이다) despite the Haeundae-gu address, names 반송큰시장 in 반송 2-동 as the main local shopping, and quotes rough road times of 15 minutes to Centum City and 20 minutes to 광안동.

Bus stops, cafeteria menus, dormitory notices and local housing listings are Korean-first. Papago, Naver Map and KakaoMap cover most everyday gaps.

    On-Campus Dorms

The Haeundae campus has two dormitory buildings, 제1생활관 (one basement floor and six above ground, 7,807.00 square metres) and 제2생활관 (one basement floor and three above ground, 4,361.43 square metres), 244 rooms in total with capacity for 696 students out of 1,291 university-wide, the other 595 being at Yangsan. University-wide room formats are 1인실, 2인실, 3인실 and 4인실. Rooms come with a desk, chair, bookshelf, bed, wardrobe and LAN port, and shared facilities include a fitness room, study room, laundry, washroom, showers, an internet cafe and a shop. International students are housed in what the Office of Global Affairs calls Dormitory (Building H) at the Haeundae campus, in 2-bed and 4-bed rooms. Apply at http://dorm.ysu.ac.kr at least two weeks before arrival, or in person at the dormitory office on the first floor when you get there. Note that the dormitory site and the international pages use different names for the buildings, 제1생활관 and 제2생활관 on one, H동 or Building H on the other.

Room Type Fee / Semester Meals
Building H (H동), 2-person room, international students Two official pages disagree. The Office of Global Affairs page gives about 563,000 to 906,000 KRW per semester (4 months) covering the 4-person to 2-person range. The Korean Language Education Center page gives 1,285,000 KRW for a 2-person room. Not included. Optional meal plan, see the footnote.
Building H (H동), 4-person room, international students Same conflict. Office of Global Affairs: within the 563,000 to 906,000 KRW per semester range. Korean Language Education Center page: 734,000 KRW. Not included. Optional meal plan, see the footnote.
6-person room 650,000 KRW on the Korean Language Education Center page. The Office of Global Affairs page does not list a 6-person room at all. Not included. Optional meal plan, see the footnote.
1-person and 3-person rooms (1인실, 3인실) Information being verified Not included. Optional meal plan, see the footnote.

Treat these figures carefully. Two official Youngsan pages publish different dormitory fees for the same building and neither carries a year stamp: the Office of Global Affairs page says about 563,000 to 906,000 KRW per semester of 4 months for a 4-person or 2-person room, while the Korean Language Education Center page says 1,285,000 KRW for a 2-person room, 734,000 KRW for a 4-person and 650,000 KRW for a 6-person. The dormitory site itself publishes no figures at all, only the note that the fee is per semester, is made up of items including management fees and residents' association fees, and changes every year (생활관비는 한학기 기준이며 관리비, 자치회비 등의 항목으로 책정되며 매년 변동 될 수 있습니다). Get the current number in writing before you transfer anything. Meals are not bundled: there is a separate optional meal plan (선택급식) at 4,200 to 5,000 KRW per meal, covering one or two weekday meals (breakfast and dinner), with lunch taken at the student cafeteria and no service at weekends or on public holidays. Dormitory office, Haeundae: 051-540-7400, (48015) 부산광역시 해운대구 반송순환로 142(반송동). Yangsan dormitory: 055-380-9702. The international dormitory contact is 최참솔 on 051-540-7031, chamsol@ysu.ac.kr, and the English page names Mr. Liu Weihan, Office of Global Affairs (Building M9308), on the same number.

    Off-Campus Rent

We looked for a citable rent figure for Bansong-dong in August 2026 and did not find one, official or otherwise, so we are not publishing a range. Treat any listing you find as a starting point rather than a quote. Useful geography: 반송동 splits into 아랫반송 (Bansong 1-dong, the older low-rise area where 영산대역 is) and 윗반송 (Bansong 2-dong, mostly apartments, with 반송큰시장 as the local market). Korean search terms that work: 영산대 원룸, 영산대학교 원룸, 반송동 원룸, 아랫반송 원룸, 윗반송 원룸, 영산대 자취방. Use Naver 부동산, 직방, 다방 and the local estate agents around 반송우체국.

Never sign sight-unseen. Use a vetted advisor to conduct a physical room check before sending any deposit.

    Dining on the Haeundae campus

The official menu page publishes three dining categories for the Haeundae campus, 기숙사 식당 (dormitory cafeteria), 학생식당 (student cafeteria) and 교직원 식당 (staff cafeteria), with weekly menus posted by breakfast (조식), lunch (중식) and dinner (석식) at https://ysu.ac.kr/kor/CMS/DietMenuMgr/list.do?mCode=MN192&itemcode1=CDE_000030. The dormitory cafeteria has about 220 seats (약 220석의 좌석과 방송시설이 완비되어 있어) and has run since the first semester of 2007, 051-540-7400. Two honest gaps. No opening hours and no counter price list are published for the Haeundae 학생식당, and the exact building is not stated either, the campus map suggests E동, the student union building, but that is unconfirmed. The only published price, 4,200 to 5,000 KRW per meal, is the dormitory meal plan rate, not the student cafeteria counter price. Also note that the 천원의 아침밥 subsidised breakfast programme, 1,000 KRW to the student for a meal worth 5,000 KRW, Monday to Thursday 08:30 to 10:00 from 3 March to 17 December 2026, first 110 students each day, runs only at the Yangsan campus in the 코스모스관 second-floor cafeteria. Haeundae is explicitly excluded until funding allows.

    Dinner (석식)

    Information being verified

Covered by the optional dormitory meal plan on weekdays at 4,200 to 5,000 KRW per meal. No opening hours are published.

    Libraries & Sports

    • 연봉도서관 (Yeonbong Library), Haeundae campus, 051-540-7050. The Yangsan campus has 중앙도서관 on 055-380-9137.
    • Borrowing is in person on presentation of a student card or mobile ID, with loan periods of 10 to 50 days depending on user category, renewable.
    • Web databases, e-books and e-learning content are published as available to both campuses.
    • Group study rooms are booked at the circulation desk, minimum group of 3 at Yeonbong Library and 5 at Yangsan.
    • Library portal: https://lib.ysu.ac.kr. It served an empty page when we checked in August 2026, and no opening hours are published for Yeonbong Library.

    Health & Medical

There is no campus health service published for either campus

We searched the Youngsan University site in August 2026 for a 보건실, 건강관리실, 의무실 or clinic and found nothing, for Haeundae or for Yangsan. The sitemap has no health entry and the site search returns no results for 보건실 or 건강. We are reporting that as a verified absence in the published information rather than a proven absence on the ground, so if an on-campus first-aid point matters to you, confirm it with the Office of Global Affairs by phone before you arrive.

National Health Insurance and Daedong Hospital

What the university does publish, in English, on the Office of Global Affairs insurance page, is that international students join National Health Insurance, automatically for D-2 holders once they receive their alien registration card and six months after entry for D-4 holders. The partner hospital is 대동병원 (Daedong Hospital): present your insurance card and alien registration card there and medical benefits are applied to your bill automatically. Reimbursement claims are submitted to the Office of Global Affairs, and enrolment is done by visiting that office on the Haeundae campus with the insurance fee and your alien registration card. The insurance and visa guidance is published in English and the office line for it is 051-540-7028. That is real English support, but it is insurance and referral help, not a campus clinic.

For urgent situations anywhere in Korea, call 119. Take your student ID, alien registration card, insurance details and a translation app to any medical visit.

    Around the Haeundae campus

This is Haeundae-gu by address only. The campus sits inland in Bansong-dong, up a valley, and the reality check that matters most is fully official: from 영산대역 exit 2 the university's own English directions describe about a 15 to 20 minute walk up to the front gate. Buses 115-1, 129, 129-1, 183, 189, 189-1 and 73 stop at 반송우체국, about five minutes from campus on foot, which is the easier daily route. 반송도서관, the public library, is next to the school bus stop.

Background from namu.wiki, a Korean user-edited wiki and not an official source: Bansong-dong divides into 아랫반송 (Bansong 1-dong), older low-rise housing where the station is, and 윗반송 (Bansong 2-dong), around 5,500 apartment units with better amenities and the 반송큰시장 market. The same source describes the area as an inland valley between 장산 and 운봉산 with no sea view, and quotes rough road times of 15 minutes to Centum City and 20 minutes to 광안동.

One thing we will not do is tell you where students actually eat and hang out around 반송동. We found no citable source for it, official or otherwise, and we would rather leave a gap than fill it with a guess. Ask current students or the Office of Global Affairs. What we can tell you from official pages is that dormitory meals stop at the weekend and on public holidays, so a weekend food plan is worth sorting out in your first week.
