The Night
We gathered 18 local developers, designers, and digital creators at the Base21 Hub for an unstructured night of rapid production. The goal was simple: write code, exchange local tech ideas, listen to excellent music, and build for the city.
No sponsors pitched. No prizes were handed out. Pairs and trios formed in the first thirty minutes around a single shared prompt — “something a Busan resident could use this weekend” — and the room got quiet fast.
By 22:30 every team had something demoable. Some were three lines of working code. Others were maps, scrapers, tiny PWAs, even a Toss Pay tipping flow for buskers in BIFF Square. The full lineup is below.
Hacked Projects
Seomyeon Sound
Map · Realtimeby Jiwoo K. & Marcus T.
A late-night map that surfaces which bars and listening rooms are actually open and playing music right now — crowd-sourced from the room.
Banchan API
Data · Botby Hyejin L.
An open dataset of side dishes served at neighborhood baekban joints — turned into a tiny REST endpoint and a Telegram bot for indecisive eaters.
Gwangalli Tide
PWA · Localby Daniel R. & Sora P.
A lightweight PWA that pairs tide tables with sunrise/sunset to recommend the best 30-minute window for a beach walk that evening.
Hagwon Hours
Scraper · Jobsby Min-jae C.
A scraper + map showing which academies in Busan post English-teacher openings each week, with commute time from KTX stops.
Buskr
Payments · Civicby Andrea V. & Ji-ho Y.
A simple Stripe-less tipping page for street musicians in BIFF Square — QR posters, Toss Pay deep links, zero account required.
Pulse Threads
Editorial · AIby Team of 4
An experimental newsletter format that turns the week's OurBusan Pulse into a threaded conversation you can reply to inline.
What We Learned
- · Busan's tech community shows up — we capped at 18 and had a waitlist of 24 within 36 hours.
- · Bilingual rooms work. Pair-coding broke the language barrier faster than any intro round ever has.
- · Three hours is plenty. Anything longer and quality drops; anything shorter and nothing ships.
