PROJECT HERMON is pleased to present Recurring Image, the first solo show in South Korea by Sophia Rosenthal, an artist born in Seoul and is now based in the United Kingdom.
The exhibition brings together intimate paintings created in London alongside drawings and archival materials, presenting finished works, the process behind them, and new works that will continue to develop during the artist’s residency in Busan within a single temporal landscape.
Rosenthal’s paintings begin with old family photographs and everyday snapshots. Through layering, masking, erasure, repetition, and tactile brushwork, she transforms photographs from static records into living memories.
Held concurrently with the artist’s Busan residency period (Naughty Muse Studios) Recurring Image invites visitors to witness the ongoing accumulation and transformation of memory, time, movement, and identity.
