About This Event
The Busan Inter-City Film Festival returns for its 10th edition from August 28 to 30, showcasing independent cinema from Busan alongside films created in cities around the world.
The festival is built around cultural exchange between Busan and other filmmaking communities, particularly cities in the UNESCO Creative Cities of Film network and partner organizations connected with the Busan Independent Film Association.
This year's program is divided into several sections:
Inter-City presents distinctive local cinema from UNESCO Creative Cities of Film and other partner cities.
Busan highlights recent works by Busan-based filmmakers who have made an impact over the past year.
Residency premieres films produced through the Busan Inter-City Residency Film Project, which has supported Busan filmmakers working internationally since 2017.
Drawing City looks at cities and the wider world through films centered around a shared theme.
-scape is a new section for 2026 exploring the distinctive landscapes, worlds, and cinematic languages created by filmmakers.
The festival is also marking the 10th anniversary of its residency film project with a special retrospective screening titled In Another Place.
The international program includes films from cities such as Valladolid, Terrassa, Wellington, Ouarzazate, Bristol, Potsdam, Vicente López, Santos, São Paulo, Łódź, Yamagata, Ho Chi Minh City, Qingdao, Fukuoka, and Bradford, among others.
For foreign residents, this is particularly worth listing because the festival is fundamentally international rather than being a Korean-only local film event. Its official program includes filmmakers and cities from Europe, Asia, Oceania, Africa, and the Americas.
